Pace & Co.-The Five Year Plan

Unless results improve we will be back arguably where we belong in the Championship and it will be our third relegation under the stewardship of Pace & Co who arrived at Turf Moor with a five year plan of consolidating the club in the Premier League back in December 2020.
That will result in yet another fire sale and complete rebuild from scratch as many of the players will want away if we drop out of the PL.So much for loyalty,putiing on the shirt, wearing the badge platitudes.
It is getting very tedius with little or no stability in the playing squad with players coming and going through the revolving transfer doors.Meanwhile the club accumulates more debt at extortionate interest rates.This cannot go on forever and it will not end well if our luck runs out and we do not get promoted back to the PL and then we have to rely on EFL payments to fund the debt.
It is now exactly 5 years since the Yanks took over and it has been the exact opposite of life under the previous owners which was largely debt free and stable both on and off the pitch.They have presided over what looks increasingly like 3 relegations and 2 promotions back to the PL with squad turnover being off the charts every Summer since the first relegation.
The owners seem to prefer optics over substance which is reflected in their recruitment both of managers and certain players in an effort to get more ?global reach? for the club.Burnley are a relatively small club in a run down area which is well supported in comparison with the catchment area and in my opinion will never reach a global audience.It does not have the pull of the bigger clubs no matter who they recruit.They can make ?Mission to Burnley? documentary films, quirky videos of new player signings and posting interviews with the new arrivals but it all looks like lipstick on a pig when the club gets relegated with a whimper from the PL with little signs of any fight from those players.Todays professional football players have little or no connection to the clubs they play for and are motivated by one thing-money.Likewise the fans have little or no connection to players that are here for a season then off to pastures new as soon as the gravy train halts.
The time under the present owners continues to be a roller coaster ride of highs and lows but this instability cannot continue indefinitely and their luck could well run out if we are relegated again.What will Pace & Co. do now their much heralded 5 year plan has expired.
Lets hope we somehow avoid relegation.

We had planned a long weekend in Newcastle and take in the game, but we have now decided to go to visit the Koln Christmas market instead. It will no doubt end in six losses on the bounce at Newcastle, surely Parker will have to go then?

If he doesn't go and we hang on to him like we did with Kompany, we may has well throw the towel in and hang out the white flag.
We cannot have a repeat of 2 seasons ago when we did nothing, its not fair on the supporters who give up their time and money. Pace must be seen to be proactive or what is the point in us turning up giving our support

First time in a very, very long time I took the "no go option" and stayed home and warm and watched the game on the TV. My son who went said the atmosphere was flat and he could actually hear Glasner shouting instructions and our season tickets are in the Jimmy Mc Upper. Pace was no doubt eating cheese souffles and tapas in Barcelona.

With our 'Burnley fan' owners we went through a period under Sean's management which saw us do very well for a club with our financial resources, however, lots of fans moaned that we should have been spending more and playing better football and were wanting the hierarchy to stand down.
Eventually, the inevitable happened and we sold out to the current incumbents with their 5 year plan. A plan which seems to have taken us from having 56 million pounds in hand to owing over 110 million at the last count and increasing.

The nitty gritty of the transfer market is alway difficult to ascertain, however, according to the figures which I have been able to obtain we had a net spend of 71.11 million pounds during the 10 years that SD was manager.
In the last 4 years since he departed we have a net spend of 114.39 million which is quite worrying when you consider just how much we are struggling.

I really think that, as a club, we have lost our identity, however, it is what many fans wanted and was always on the cards when we moved away from owners who appreciated what the club was.
Fans were so pleased when the Garlick et al era ended because they considered that the club would progress. Sadly...................

Indeed Sub.It will be very interesting to see what SD does at Forest because for the first time in his career he might have some serious backing in the transfer window although Forest are already a good team.I always thought he should have been given the benefit of a couple of windows where Pace backed him after the ten years of miracles on a shoestring.We shall now see what could have been.

All true Sub - but you haven’t mentioned that the premier league standards and money have increased ten fold in the space of times you state.

No one ever forgets what Sean did for the club I don’t think , and as for the new owners well if they didn’t spend the money and support the managers they’d also be *******ised for not trying to do the right thing.

It’s a tough ask isn’t in truth as if Dyche was still here we couldn’t afford a team of British footballers to compete in the premier league also would youth have got a chance.

So there are more than one way to look at the situation - also watched Sean Dyche teams many times without us creating a chance at goal - so the manager has changed the league has improved the moneys gone up and we’re still where we were before.

I have no doubt Mr Pace and his chums have an exit strategy that will ensure they are fine, just what state this will leave the club in is anybody's guess. My guess is we'll be up the proverbial sh1t creek without the proverbial paddle.

I have no doubt Mr Pace and his chums have an exit strategy that will ensure they are fine, just what state this will leave the club in is anybody's guess. My guess is we'll be up the proverbial sh1t creek without the proverbial paddle.

Espanyol could well be a part of that exit strategy.
