Good goal from heggebo
I dont think goalie was to blame too much for 3rd as some are saying.
Its not good and time is running short for the manager it seems

Heggebo is looking better each game only bright spot.
Terrible defending for two goals and poor marking for another.

Highlights? Highlight, more like, Heggebo.
Great goal from Heggebo but some shambolic defending for the ones we conceded. Can't blame Wildsmith for the lack of intensity, ideas or quality that was on display for most of the game, particularly the first half, but Mason certainly made an un-necessary rod for for his own back with the GK change.
Wildsmith, by all accounts, looked shakey throughout and that didn't inspire confidence in the back 4. The first QPR goal had a great ball in but they should never have been allowed such an easy free header, then Mowatt was clearly at fault for one (although why pass the ball to him in the first place given the circumstances!) and both Campbell and Wildsmith for the other where the GK should have done better.
Mason's one word answer regarding any decision to put Griffiths back between the sticks on Tues can be interpreted either way but it won't go down well if he is not back there. Yes, Josh has made some errors but the number of quality saves he has made outweigh those and I'm sure he would inspire more confidence in the back 4 (or 3?)
I totally get what Al posted regarding managers and how some can inspire the same group of players to successes that others fail with (and I too have witnessed that in the workplace as well as football) but still think that the players themselves have to shoulder some of the blame for their performances. Mason was at fault for the GK change and maybe should have at least put on Bostock or Dike to boost our attacking options once we'd got a goal back for 1-2 but surely the players themselves are culpable for sloppy passing or defending and not battling enough?
What I find strange is that if the players seemed to show such visible support for Mason after Molumby's winner against Swansea and after getting the reward for a battling second half, why they "reverted to type" against QPR? In any event, however much the players may like Mason or support him, it is results that ultimately count and whilst I think we all see this season as a kind of rebuild one, Patel must surely be thinking that he cannot allow these one step forward, three steps back performances to continue. I'd be surprised if another manager was not already in mind and another dire performance against Southampton will only increase the pressure to change.
Good day Omeg. I have absolutely no idea why Mason changed goalkeepers. No idea whatsoever. Whether it was his decision or maybe it it was someone else is anyone’s guess, (Nestor perhaps). As you rightly point out, Griffiths is susceptible to the odd error but there was no way he should have been dropped to the bench.
Wildsmith did look nervous and as said before by posters if you have little or no confidence in the keeper behind you it does affect the defensive play.
Management is not for everyone of course. Some think they can and cannot. As I have stated before we are very fortunate in that department and rarely have to recruit, likely because we allow managers to do what they are good at within the framework of our business.
My concern, and I’m sorry if I repeat myself, is I do wonder what other influences there are behind some of our (WBA’s) team selections and playing style. If it is solely down to Ryan Mason, then I would say he really needs to change and if he does not, then it is time for a rethink. If it is not Mason, then I think whoever it is, again I point the finger of suspicion at Nestor, then they need to be told to back off or go.
I don’t think Mason has lost the dressing room, that has been said about the last two or three coaches/managers, it is too simple to put that scenario forward time after time. The players showed last weekend they were together and were in support of Mason.
I am fairly sure Mr Patel will make a decision in the next few games if results remain unfavourable, and it is most likely the axe will fall on Mason. However, I am not convinced he is the whole problem.
Time will tell and I guess the carousel will keep turning.
Absolutely Omeg buddy. Additionally Mason?s post match demeanour reflected he is clearly a worried man. It would be no surprise to hear some announcement about his future.
Good to see Heggebo?s continued growth in confidence and conversely disappointed to see Mulumby in the Officials? ears post match. He does himself no favours !
