There seems to be a reluctance to pull the trigger, given maybe the potential dismissal payout. Nestor is definitely tainted and this makes it all the more difficult for Patel.
Interesting to see what statements are made, and by whom.

We have a record for awful recruitment, poor signings and long contracts. I can?t get my head around Mason?s contract.
Let?s face it - Mason was no Potter or even a Lampard and never managed at 34 a club in his life. Assistant to a poor manager and had a few games in charge when a manager was sacked. Wow - big deal!
So why the hell did we offer Mason a three year contract when he was an untried novice? Surely a one year contract with a good incentive if he was doing well ie getting us into the play offs should have been offered. Had this not enticed him at the time - move on!
Just do not get it! You will have a situation now where Nestor will not want to lose face and the risk we could end up in a promotion fight. The pay off for Mason will be a huge one for failure.
Mason will not turn things around!

Agreed!! poor choice given his inexperiebce, bad contract given his inexperience I agree with all you say.
Worst of all think saving face , Nestor in particular is more important than salvaging the season and setting up well for next .
I remember when this site was full of optimism about this season - play offs etc.Mason and about a strong transfer window esp our defensive signings.
Now we give away goals look at QPR and Southampton 2 in each those games.
Mason's plan if he has one isn't working- sideways back to let teams get set up, playing out from back allowing early press. no try out for youth - why can Bostock not get minutes . Even Dike should get a chance - he may as well get injured trying than sit on the bench
He doesn't motivate from kick off and his hands in pocket watching cannot motivate players.
The mason experiment hasn't worked - only the length of his contract and Nestor's self predservation is keeping him in posM
Nestor is the one I’d like to see the back of, he’s the one, presumably, that had the great idea of selling Tom Fellows, our best player, what vision!
