Fair to say we have had some very good keepers over the last 10 years and Dawson isnt one of them. But is he that bad? He shouldnt have been beaten with the first on Monday though. His distribution is the most concerning thing.

Hes a nesh flapper who un- nerves the defenders in front of him . Holmes got the flak for the third goal but wasnt he just shielding the ball expecting his keeper to come and claim it ? Amazed that Hamshaw allegedly rates him but suspect hes been told he cant replace one of the top earners.
Anyone who thinks a keeper with such little concentration who lets a ball through his legs trying god knows what like that, when anyone in their right minds would gather a ball up in the hands, deserves little better. Come on, that includes the manager. It was beyond embarrassing. And just maybe he is on high wages and can’t be replaced…..or is it no other club would be daft enough to take him on.
If a poor defence is not protecting him, fair enough. But he had oceans of time for the first goal and involved in the third. Both by not doing what he should rightly be doing, so he really is bang to rights. And it often happens. His concentration is often poor.
This is the main key.
Outfield players can protect each other, but keepers need to do the basics right and the first goal was the last straw in my estimation of him. It wasn’t unavoidable, it was totally avoidable. That’s the key.
Dawson may not have had one of his better games against Blackpool, and yes the first goal, through his legs from an angled shot, and the last goal, he has to come and claim the through ball, or for me he does anyway, were things he himself will probably say 'I should have done better. However, he also made some really good saves, the reaction save from the point blank shot he turned over the bar 2nd half was stunning and a few more as well, and I've said this before that he has come on in leaps and bounds this season, and my main criticism of Dawson would be that he doesn't roll or throw the ball out often enough when he gets the chance, but he most certainly wasn't the main reason we lost against Blackpool, as, Dan Gore apart we, as a team, were collectively awful, although I did think Blackpool played really well too. UTM
So basically Cam should have bent down and picked up the ball that went through his legs !
Yes it's that simple, all goalies, even the very best will have this happen to them at some point.
Maybe a slight miss judgment by the keeper, a hard and low shot that deviated slightly, many reasons.
As a keeper you are always judged harshly as any error often ends in a goal, there were many other errors in this game, none of which were Dawson's.
