    Patel No Doubt Haggling

If the appointment is Ramsay then I will be gobsmacked as no lessons will have been learnt. Young manager with zero championship experience and no doubt, no contacts. I have lived in the US and watched the MLS which I would place it equivalent to league 1 at best.

No appointment yet suggests Patel is haggling over the wage. Once huge wage earners like Dike and Wallace are off the books then thank the lord. I would also take any reasonable offers for Maja and Grant in this window.

Let?s just hope Morrison starts with a strong team tomorrow but balanced with great youngsters like Whitwell and Bostock not garbage like Junior FFS

I never thought Mason was the answer - no experience of the Championship and as it turned out no management skills in selection or tactics .
Now Ramsay - no experience of the championship noquality contacts for loans coz that's all we can get now having blown our cash on Mason out

But I do now think that the Nestor model is the root cause - it may be great on paper bur truth is we have to play on grass.
I don't think that any manager or head coach can thrive under this overarching Nestor plan .

Would have preferred someone who is savvy about the championship and brave enough to be his own man - he may as well be as you get sacked if results don't deliver.
So before the ink is dry here's my take.... Ramsay is not the answer - more money wasted . Can we not look at a dynamic young manager leading a team in the lower division playing attacking football - who might that be? - I don't know but our wall to wall analysts should

Nothing substantiated of course, but reports in the press are saying that terms have been agreed so whatever the delay in an appointment, I'm not sure how much of it is down to haggling over salary Al. If it is Ramsay, then I've likely got the same concerns as yourself and many others (primarily his lack lack of proven management experience in the Championship or comparable league) but can only hope that they have got this one right and he proves us wrong. At least, he has more actual management experience than Mason had when we appointed him.

Unsure about Morrison's selection for the cup game tbh. He has said all the right things so far and talked of the desire to win the game as well as this being a chance for others who have not had too many opportunities under Mason to play including some of our younger players. We will see.

Given, our injury list, the lack of depth in the squad and the urgent need to concentrate on pulling ourselves back up the league table I'm not sure how "strong" the team selection will be -but I do at least expect a desire to win and for certain players to try and impress. I think we will see many of our best XI rested or playing bit parts only with Bostock, Whitwell and maybe some of our other youngsters given their chance alongside the likes of Dike given a start.

Given the circumstances with no manager yet confirmed, our precarious league position and lack of squad depth, I think we have to be pragmatic and not field our best eleven in cup games which means that any chances of a decent cup run are highly unlikely. It's a pity because the FA Cup may not mean what it once did to many but for all the more predictable results like Man City putting 8 past Exeter you then get non league Macclesfield winning 2-1 against Palace-and it's a very British thing to love an under-dog! Congratulations and well done to Macclesfield, players, staff, managers and supporters-I'm sure the celebrations will go on for a while yet!

Well, Man City were 8-0 up when I posted but it's ended 10-1. The other-and maybe more predictable- side of the coin with FA Cup draws at this stage 😁

Loved the pitch invasion at Macclesfield with excited fans at the end - mainly dads and their kids.

Watching the Vile - hate to say it but God they are fantastic playing the ball around in quick possession football. I forgot what this was!

What lessons do you think they should have learnt? They tried one of the most experienced championship managers around and it was a disaster.

Plenty of managers are doing well without championship experience. The Hull boss is doing a fine job. The Bristol City manager has only 6 months under his belt. Sunderlands gaffer is fantastic. Middlesbrough are competitive with a bloke from Sweden.

If you restrict yourself to championship, there arent many options. Particularly given we are 18th in the league with financial issues.

This summer, the rumours were that Ramsey was the target and he didnt want to join mid season for MLS. He was an exciting prospect in a growing league.

I have a hunch this will be a great appointment if we get it over the line. But we will never truly know. Neither will Nestor, you or I. Coventry didnt fully know that Lampard was a good appointment following his failure at Everton. I imagine Hull fans were incredibly concerned. Youve just got to go with the best fit and hope it works.

I hope you are right Matt. Obviously when I said championship experience it should have also said proven overseas experience too in an equivalent league. I used to watch a lot of MLS matches in the US and the standard is equivalent to league 1. Yes that poor! Maybe the Nestor model is wrong and he should butt out as what does he know about football. As Ketts said football is a simple game. If I was Patel I would be focusing more on recruitment as this role should be the most important at the club. Sunderland were promoted because they used pacey youngsters. I hope we have a strong team tomorrow and the likes of Whitwell and Bostock start. Junior is a poor player FFS and on loan so surely to God the future must be a Bostock type of player. It annoys me because even Fellows only got noticed because of injuries and he was a class act compared to Wallace. Had Wallace been put back in instead of Fellows there would have been an outcry hence Carlos played him in different positions ie CF! CF 😭😭😭

Ramsay will also be the chosen one because he will be cheap cheap. We would not get managers like Carsley and Gerard for sure on what will be offered to Ramsay. Maybe more money will come in the bottom line when Wallace and Dike are gone come June which will save us around 65K a week. What a waste of cash 💰
