    5-4-1

I watched Barnsley v Liverpool on Monday with admiration for a Conor hourhanne team that delivered the shape formation and perfect display of how it should be played.

The Barnsley team really troubled Liverpool
The whole game right up to the final whistle with a brilliant defensive shape and. Attacking prowess. ( sadly we look so slow and without purpose in our set up - the writing is on the wall ).

Whilst we are on the subject of Barnsley - Shepard at centre back was immense and looked to me a very good buy for low monies and the absolute jewel was a young wide man called Reyes Cleary who absolutely knew his job - direct with pace good delivery and tireless work rate. ( he would be on my list to come to Burnley Tuesday 1st thing ).

Liverpool eventually had to concede and put 2 men on him and at the end a triangle of 3 players such was his ability.

The post was really about our formation and / or lour ack of understanding of how to deliver it , hats of to Barnsley though as I can say and not many times this season I was entertained.

( the manager I would look at as well - young fresh - knowledgable and kicked every ball for all his players.).

Sounds like just what our owners will not go for.

What does Cleary deliver every game, week in, week out?

Barnsley winning 1 in 6 league games in League 1 says different to me.

If Barnsley don't find some league form and fast, they will be looking for a new manager

I watched City yesterday and they definitely played in a 5-4-1 formation with the big Norwegian lad with the pony tail up top.

They then brought on half a billion quid's worth of substitutes to add to the billion quid's worth of players still on the pitch.

Then we wonder why we lose to these teams.

BT losing to them expected, problem is not turning up at Brighton and home to Fulham etc. You know that and don’t wish to upset your intelligence or anyone else for that matter

He has pace - goes past men - commits them and does exactly what a winger should do - I watched him in the game and he did what I?d want from a wide man - got me excited about football again.

With respect if he can do it at Liverpool in a game he can do it regularly - but let?s poo poo him and let someone get the spoils.

Our past is littered with players we could and should have signed army88.

Cleary sounds like the man we need but how do we unload one of ours. Can a player who is injured and out for the rest of the season be replaced?
