Waiting to get on this site is nearly as bad as waiting for Eddie to make a decision during a game, 'kin mind numbing !![]()
Aye, can't afford to let it grow any bigger but, you look at the fixtures we've got coming up, especially away from home, and I can see that gap growing-significantly.
This site is becoming almost unusable.
Last couple of days I've timed out more often than got in.
Why? What the actual fork is going on? Never happens on any other sites.
Weird
Usually it means their doing sumit in the back office (for lack of other words).
Footymad clearly doesn't make money from these fan board but will still have to pay to host the servers. I've taken a look at a few of the other clubs forums and most of them are unpopulated. 5-10 yrs ago every board had decent numbers and good traffic.
My guess would be that Footymad were a big deal back in the day as they were one of the early football media channels who pumped out the gossip and had fan engagement.
However, everything has sped u since then, with video content and instant twitter messaging dominating the rage baiting landscape Footymad's market share would have reduces exponentially.
So the reason the site sucks is because they don't spend money on maintenance. They won't administer the site anymore. It will be outsourced to some 3rd world IT service provider on an SLA (service level agreement) basis.
SLAs are the core of my business. Easier to Understand is AWS, Amazon Web Services providing serves and support for companies websites & Apps. There are tiers to the service. Top level service is 24/7 with financial penalties for outages. The lowest level be a basic hosting service with minimal support and upgrades on a pay as you go basis.
Clearly Footymad runs these Forums on a shoe string.
Thanks, Raga-you've cleared a lot of things up there.
Bit of a worry for the viability of the site going forward though?
It depends on how FootyMad sees it's business model.
They could be absolutely cashing in whilst invested the bare minimum to keep it afloat. If it's making money it'll stay active.
