I don’t see how Big Dave could possibly be in the frame after taking Port Vale to the bottom of League One!

Allegedly the players referred to Ramsey as the University Lecturer, also allegedly two players called him a s hit manager to his face

If that is the the case then it is no wonder results were as bad as they were!

Bit more to it than that from I was told at the time. Naming no names of course but the row was supposed to have started when a certain central midfielder who used to play for Leeds and Barnsley got frustrated in training.

It is rumoured that he and The Professor got into a stand up in your face argument when said midfielder lost his rag and told The Professor point blank that he was a useless tunc.

Things escalated further from there which is when two Ireland internationals added their two Euros worth before stomping out of training and taking their toys home with them.

As none of this can be proven I am going to end this description of events as they were described to me with a caveat labelled allegedly. Believe or disbelieve at your own discretion.

I don't think he's that bad a manager. He has promotions with Sheff Wed and Port Vale on his record. Got sacked from us because we were 'only in 5th'...admittedly with a good side.

I'd take him over someone like Bilic, because I think he is more suited to our squad right now. And I'd take him over any of our last 3 managers.

If this 'allegedly' did take place, then it would explain a lot. Our performances, his early sacking, certain players' body language etc. It seemed from the outside looking in all was not well.

The players have a lot to answer for as well, but they need to be guided by someone competent. And whatever that formation and setup was when he first came in was indescribably bad. It didn't scream competence.

Whoever they appoint, they need to get it right this time so preferably someone with proven Championship experience who is up for a relegation dog fight and capable of keeping us up. Whether or not we can afford or attract someone with those credentials is another thing entirely but we can't afford any more experiments/gambles. In the meantime, I'm happy for Mozza to stand in.

There is a world of difference, of course, between stepping up to cover a few games than there is of taking us through the last 12 games of the season -especially given the huge amount of pressure to keep us up-and I don't think Mozza either wants that or is ready for it yet. Even so, there are quite a few pluses to having him take charge-he is liked and respected by many, he knows the club, he knows the players and after all of the disruptions of late I think the players will respond to him as someone they already know well and work with. The games he has overseen have also shown that he seems to have an understanding of our better formation and selection.

I can't comment on what 68 and others have said about fall outs between players and Ramsay because I'm not privy to any of that but given some of our performances it wouldn't at all surprise me. Mason made bizarre selections at times and he failed to get them to kill off games or to stop conceding late goals but we did play some decent football at times under him and I never felt that he had "lost the dressing room" and that the players wanted to work for him. I'm not sure I could say the same about Ramsay.

I don't think, however, that any of us would disagree with 123's comments about the players themselves also having to shoulder a not insignificant portion of blame for where we currently sit in the table. The lack of desire and competitiveness shown in games like our thrashing by Norwich is totally unacceptable, regardless of how p issed off they might have been by Ramsay's tactics but it isn't just that-sloppy passing, shocking defensive mistakes and the failure to convert chances that looked easier to score from than miss are all on them.

Saturday is another must win and I'm just praying that with Ramsay gone, the players will now re-group, get behind Morrison and prove to the fans that they are still committed to this football club and play with both more intent and passion. A win isn't just badly needed for the points, it's badly needed to try and kick start some confidence.

    Mozza for the forthcoming.

As said on another post, I just hope that he is strong enough to carry out HIS OWN plans and not be influenced. He comes across as a nice guy, and whilst he will get on with the squad, he will need to show some steel.
