I’m not disagreeing MA. I understand that Spotify exposure doesn’t ‘necessarily’ see them selling more records/CDs but isn’t that the same with all exposure? Even radio and TV exposure doesn’t guarantee sales.
Honestly don’t fully understand the implications of your second paragraph because I have no knowledge of the expected fee per stream or the variations. It sounds tiny, but it isn’t unique to the music industry. For instance I’ve written a couple of books in the last decade or so. The first made a small profit and the second (different genre/different name) a not quite so small loss, largely because of the fees taken by the publisher and distributor.
That’s just how it is. Until an artiste/writer/artist has ‘made it’ then the rewards will be small, but equally when our small village group selects our next act exposure on Spotify can only help.
Out of interest is there a more ‘acceptable’ alternative to Spotify?

Gotta respectfully disagree with RP here, there are 'acceptable' alternatives, although it depends who you are looking for it to be acceptable to.
To maximise benefit to the musicians who are the lifeblood of themusic scene, buy hard copy, download it onto your device, play the download. It might disadvantage you slightly but it keeps the cash closer to the originator.
I have no interest in what's acceptable to Spotify
A quick poll of two bands I'm in contact with who are 'big' enough that they earn more from music than their part time day jobs is that Spotify 'isn't worth the effort' and 'pays peanuts'
Just been looking at the schedule. Im away in Greece from 4th July for 2 weeks and potentially could get 3 games in if we make the semi finals.
Love watching a tournament when on holiday, although there will be some very very late games Greek time.
I wonder if FIFA would be brave enough to remove the competition from the US
I reckon not considering the relationship they have.
If not I wonder if any other countries such as England would be brave enough to boycott.
Doubt that too.
Considering where the last World Cup was held I think it’s unlikely, Sith.
Of course if, and again I suspect it’s unlikely, the U.S. were to invade Greenland then the situation would change dramatically, but I believe the likelihood of trying to ‘pay off’ the Danes is a more likely strategy.
I know the U.S. is behaving like an ‘evil empire’ at the moment with Trump playing the role of some sort of orange Darth Vader - or maybe Jabba the Hutt - but I very much doubt FIFA will have anything to say.

Strong suggestions Iran will pull out of World Cup.
Rumours that they might not be alone in that. Iraq mentioned as a possible replacement but they are likely to also be one of the many nations Trump has excluded from getting entry visas. If FIFA had the balls, they should quickly choose another venue, maybe scarp the US based games and spread them between Mexico and Canada. FIFA has been castrated thanks to their brown noser of a boss.
