    Pope

An unsurprising but damning stat on Pope.

    -------------

"Statistically, he?s among the goalkeepers with the most errors directly leading to goals this season. That isn?t bad luck ? that?s a pattern"

    -------------

For me, he hasn't been the same since he got his 2nd shoulder injury.

    100% agree mate!

The transfer of Mamardashvili was supposed to resolve the GK issue as he was gonna become our No.1. However, once again the Bindips offered him stupid wages to go sit on the bench and waste 2-3 years of his career.

Since they all hell has broken loose in the recruitment department and here we are.

None of our 'keepers and none of our strikers are fit for purpose.

Absolutely shocking recruitment. And I'm afraid that's partly on Eddie, as no-one comes in on the playing side without his final say so.

And if they do, they end up loaned out

    Goal Keepers

    Robin Risser - Lens - Current Value - 9.07m.

The youngster has kept nine clean sheets in Ligue 1 this season, the third-highest number in the division, while a save percentage of 75.7% ranks him in second place, behind only Angers star Herve Koffi.

Robin is having a great season, 21 yrs old. He's got the potential to be world class.

Even at 25-30m it would be an excellent signing.

This lad has been picked out by Matty on The Magpie Channel TV, apparently the Club's first choice No.1 target.

Eddie Howe has made it clear that 'loyalty' isn't a factor in his team sheets, dismissing the idea that previous contributions guarantee a starting spot.

Addressing the recent scrutiny over his squad choices, the Newcastle boss emphasised today that his priority remains entirely on the immediate here and now rather than sentimental attachments to long-serving players:
"Loyalty to players makes it sound like you pick players based on what they've done previously. That’s not the case. I’ll always pick players who I think give us the best chance to win the next game. That’s my view on team selection.”

Hopefully this is Eddie is signaling to the entire dressing room that reputation won't save them from the bench if their current form dips, which is hopefully code to Pope that you're getting dropped.

Well...it's a welcome message to hear but I'm not entirely sure Eddie is being entirely truthful with himself there as the evidence would suggest otherweise.

If he still starts Pope and Burn tonight he will have learnt nothing from recent games but hopefully Ramsdale and Botman start instead Burn needs a rest and Pope needs dumping in the reserves.

He was awful against Qarabag the penalty was bad enough but for their first goal he couldnt keep up with their striker no pace at all he is shattered he needs resting and Botman is a better player who needs game time.
