SBRed Match Thoughts Barnsley v Exeter City

The season is really pittering out to much of nothing really and the quicker it's over is probably a good thing .

Get a few more points and I think you may as well blood some kids for the rest of the season and see how they shape up .

Not much to lose really .

Trouble is Animal i am not sure what kids are left to blood, we already have Bland , Kelly, Cleary and Yoga who are already regulars and we have several out on loan and I admit I do not know about who we have at the club who is a promising youngster as I do not watch the 21"s or 18"s so I really do not know who Conor can blood , personally if I was Conor and the recruitment team I should be seriously looking at the remaining games to see which out of contract players we want to keep and which ones we want to move on and address contract talks accordingly .

Fair points made there Shad .

As far as keeping players is concerned I'm of the opinion it's time for a massive clear out and a total rebuild of the squad , this includes some players who've served us relatively well in recent years but for whatever reason are still here which kind of indicates they arent much above league one if they are at all .

Some serious decisions need to be made this summer because treading water or worse in league one has to end and we can't continue to have a 3rd consecutive season in the middle of this league .

I agree with everything you say Animal and the key for me is simply what direction do the owners want to take us , what are their ambitions and what do they want to achieve ? , you and I see a clear out as a positive way to bring about a fresh attempt at improvement and no doubt Conor would think the same but the problem is for Conor is do the owners match Conors ambition and are they willing to back him with a restructure of the squad ? without them all singing from the same hymn sheet I see the gradual decline continuing , however the summer is an opportunity for the club to implement a total reset , will they do this ? I am not so sure , we will see .

Well I've just seen the team, even though we have Gent on the bench he is now trying Yoga at left back?
He can't use the Gent is tired line or protection from further injury cos he's rested and come through other games without issues.
Sometimes I wonder if he's trying to get sacked.

Shepherd played at left back until he got injured and Ogbeta took his place, Yoga played just behind the strikers in the Kelly role , Conor got this spot on Perky , Yoga had his best game for us and also netted , hopefully this will have boosted his confidence .
