Im a Dolcek fan also, like most he has elements in his game that needs improvement and can be equally as effective as Fatah, if given the chance. Yes his form dipped and possibly his attitude may not have resonated with JG. Equally I dont think JG has played him in his best position with his 3-4-3 insistence. With Fatah likely gone, Traps injured for several months, and possibly gone thereafter, I would be giving him a one year deal. We will have no other true wingers other than Randall otherwise who will likely need time to settle. Vicko being a fellow countryman (if he stays), may prove helpful if Dolcek stays.
He wasn't a passenger in as much as he was scoring goals and very effective in the final 3rd. The way JG adjusted how we play to being more cautious after the more exciting and expansive way he started the season didn't suit a player like Dolcek. Together with JG trying to change Dolcek to do more tracking back and the ugly bit the game more basically resulted in him being nullified as a threat.
Celtic have a similar type player Nygren who gets criticised for not working hard enough and a bit lightweight in midfield bit he gets a game every week because he is their top scorer with 20 goals this season which is probably a decent trade off for what he is lacking in other aspects of his game.
I would be surprised given JG hardly plays him Dolcek still being at United next season. The days of lets get a deal done for this player who was on fire seem a distant memory now. Will always feel we had a player on our hands that ultimately failed to utilise properly.
Sorry but Dolcek is the reason for this not JG, he's lazy as fk
He epitomised it against Rangers at Tannadice in December, we'd have won the game oif he'd have showed a bit more interest in his twenty minute cameo
Very good player on his day which is the frustration as we all wanted him signed early on
We need a proper good reliable keeper
This season Kucherenko has cost us, Richard's cost us and AMB has done the same
Need two keepers both on one year deals, experienced ones. Push each other over the season. The one not getting game time can be released so he can get game time. Sign another keeper on a years deal to push the existing keeper.
Mathers as goalie coach, not for me I'm afraid. The keepers currently and Kuch previously represent his quality, says plenty as far as I'm concerned. What is Alan Combe up to these days? Ex Dundee goalie coach or Neil Alexander?
