Eddie - he said, she said

Apologies for all the he said, she said ****.

But thought I'd throw this out there, see if anyone else has heard similar and see what we think.

Someone I know that - that I trust on football rumour front, he's been correct many more times than not - was at Grand National last weekend, was in a hospitality tent with someone that is close to Wilson (Ross not Callum ) circle.

Now, obviously I don't know how close the other bloke (I'm even assuming bloke to be fair) is to the circle but my person said he was "alright".

He was saying that Wilson and Eddie have had a bit of a falling out over players.

Murphy for one - he has been told he can leave and if a good offer comes in it'll be accepted. Eddie doesn't want to lose him, hence the captain's armband and the very visable presence he's had reccently.

Trips - Eddie wanted to offer another year extension on his contract but Wilson over-ruled him and accepted Trips saying he wanted to leave for a last pay-day.

Wissa - Has pissed Eddie and Wilson off, or his agent has. Someone in his camp has hacked both of them off, if we can get money back we will. I suspect if he was 2 or 3 years in to his contract we'd get rid regardless.

Ramsdale - Eddie wants to keep him. Wilson less impressed and wants to see what is out there for cheaper than ?20 million in a lump sum.

Gordon - He has said internally he doesn't want to leave but Wilson is very sure it's his agent that is pushing all the press, as opposed to other clubs that are doing it for the likes of Tonali and Tino.

Tonali - has repeatedly, internally said he wants to stay, apperently really respects how we stuck with him and wants to continue to repay that. His missus however, would prefer a more southern destination - preferably southern to the med and they reckon it's the missue on to the agent

Tino - they think he's mentally gone already. His attitude in Palace game just a highlight of this . . . This really saddens me to be honest, because I really rate Tino.

Signings - Wilson and PIF (as I understand it) want to move away from the more expensive prem experience and go for cheaper players abroad that can be sold on if they don't make it, similar to the academy but first team ready. Eddie, somewhat predictably wants prem players. . . I note today we've been linked with Gallagher, that I think is agent talk but it'll because agents know Eddie likes a prem player.

Big Name - PIF would like to do a marque signing, Wilson is pushing for lots of just under marque but more quality players in. So my guess would be two ?40 million players rather than one ?80 million etc.

This could all be *******s but some rings quite true in what we've thought to be honest and I trust my person enough to believe him, if he believes the above.

The bit about wanting to Keep Murphy and Trippier makes total sense Howe is way to loyal to players even when they are no longer good enough, Hopefully Wilson and PIF will demand quality singings this summer rather then the usual Premier league proven etc. New pre season new start new ideas etc hopefully.

I feel disloyal saying this but I feel more aligned to Wilson's thoughts on players.

We all know that Eddie's biggest failing is his loyalty to certain players and Tripps and Murphy are prime examples. It's obvious how much Eddie rates Murphy and I've heard from inside the camp that he really wants him to be here next season.

If we can bring in more players like Bruno, Botman and Tonali-who were attracting the attention of bigger clubs when we got them; another season and they would have probably gone to one of those clubs-then I'd rather that than pay over the odds for Premier League or English players.

Eddie, imo, should say to Wilson 'this is the type of player I want' and Wilson should go out and get the closest approximation to that type of player.

If we want to keep the Bruno, Botman, Tonali, Gordon?s then we need to surround them with more of the same.

I see Tripps saying he is leaving is him putting the team before himself and he goes out as a legend rather than as a shackle.

Murphy, as much as his smile is infectious - even he seems surprised at himself when he does something good 🤣

50 mil for Elanga shows why we should be looking abroad - we don?t have the resources to buy established Prem League players, so we punt on flash in the pan one season wonders.

The approach to signings is what I was just suggesting yesterday, have before, and am sure a lot of others have said the same.

All this Must Have Prem Experience is well and good, but we’re fishing in a very busy lake, and the price tag and wages come at a very expensive premium. There is more risk associated to looking outside the Prem obviously, but with financial constraints (price and wages) then that seems a no-brainer in terms of developing the squad… IF they pick the right players.

Murphy… Saw a stat that he gave the ball away 27 times against Palace. Said it many times that he is great when he has space, but put pressure on him and he’s very reluctant to take anyone on, will try and get rid of the ball anyway possible and loses it most of the time in that situation.

Tonali… Good to hear he’s committed, not so good that it might be trouble at home because of that though. Might explain the drop of form a bit.

Ramsdale… Mixed bag, but if Tino is really set on leaving then regardless of City’s supposed u-turn then I could see Trafford and other player/cash coming for him.

Gordon… He can say what he wants, but there’s a lot of noise and his performances on the pitch, apart from a few games, have given no indication he really wants to stay.

Tripps… Could see Eddie wanting to keep him, disagree, and good on Tripps for getting out before he loses even more pace… though if both Tripps and Tino go we have a big MUST in the transfer market, probably for 2 RB’s

I can believe it. If it's one factor that has caused bad form it's dropping Woltemade. Seems like he's fallen out with Wissa AND Woltemade. It's a worry how many players value has plummeted this season, whether new signings or established players. Trippier will leave on a free, Schar on a free. Leadership group are getting older and toward end of their contracts. Howe teams perform worse the more money he spends.
