    Next season

No idea who will be in charge and who we will sign, but here is what I would like and what i dont like from this.

Wingers - please can we play with wingers, not "inside Forwards" or "inverted Wingers" that cut inside - but blokes that fly down the outside, take their man on and put balls in the box

Tippy tappy sideways crap - seen enough moving the ball from full-back to fullback via centre halves in the last 3 seasons to last a lifetime - to quote Brech's - put it on the island to the guys above

Wishy-washy defenders - sign some proper big "men" - not these kids, not these ball playing centre halves - i want no nonsense head a house brick and tackle a double decker bus centre halves

Pressing - high press, high intensity - enough of this backing off and always getting caught out with a full back too high up the pitch

Injuries - nut up and play attitude, too many precious fancy dans that dont appreciate the gift they have - I want grafters who play with half an ear hanging off covered in blood

Posession for the sake of it - i really dont care about posession, i want to get off my seat, i want us putting the ball in dangerous areas - quickly stop taking forever to move the ball

Throw-ins - someone who can throw the ball further than they can kick it please - preferably 2 of them (one each side)

Goal kicks - no short goal kicks, get it forud

Bsically, can we have the Paul Warne, Ronnie Moore & Steve Evans (1st spell) stuff back please?

Always said wide players are who can go on the outside not Martha on the right, Gray on the left both cutting inside.

    ManorFarmMiller is onto something here.

    I'd like to add:

Real men in very long shorts and thick jerseys with collars. Boots that are dubinned each week with studs that you have to nail on and real goalies with flat caps and knitted polo-neck jumpers - only in green please. While we're at it, bring back the heavy leather football that leaves your brain mushed for a couple of hours after you've headed it. I also want the pitch to be a quagmire for the winter months of the season with more brown than green.

Can we also get back to all-standing crowds of only men in flat caps and long coats, smoking Park Drives or a Woodies and pissing on the spot through a rolled up match programme rather than going to the bogs...

(Just kidding MFM!! You. make some very good points.)

It's actually amazing how much I want the exact opposite.
I'd rather players not just take the get rid approach and kick it forward giving the ball back to the opposition inviting them to play football against us at their own perogative.
Defenders and keepers comfortable to play with the ball, so they can pass it sideways trying to play some actual football rather than Sunday league crap.
Aimless crossing, because "getting the ball in the box is the best way to score". Just play more football on the edge of the box working the V trying to create actually good chances. More of the wingers getting to the byline and dragging the ball back to midfielders a la frecks.
And finally throw-ins and free kicks taken quickly getting the ball back into play trying to pass forwards rather than just aimlessly hoofing it back into the box into the keepers waiting arms

Football has moved on, and so should some of the dinosaurs on this site, if you want to watch idiots run around for a bit and win a physical battle I'm sure you can go watch titans next year, or alternatively go watch parkgate because that's obviously the standard of football you want Rotherham to be playing

Hoof football was one of our let downs this season, which forward could head a ball in our team, not one,
last player we had was Michael Smith who could head a ball.
All we did with hoof football was to invite the opposing side to attack again.
Michael Smith still has 1 year left on his contract at Preston North End, with him not being a first choice
perhaps we could entice him back to the NYS.

He's burnt his bridges here. Move on.
