    Bany

Seems to me another complete waste of money. Looked totally out of his depth in the second half and needs shipping out.

The moral of the story it?s not just money - it?s how you spend it ie money v quality. Already mentioned for almost five million Heggebo has been a misfiring flop!

    Not impressed with Bany!

Apart from Campbell, Phillips, Imray, Styles and Diakite, the rest can all go and that includes Price and Johnston

Sadly, I tend to agree with you about Price. He has certainly improved his work rate over recent games and he does try but his decision making and the quality of his final ball has too often been poor. A lot of huffing and puffing to little end. It's a great pity because he looked so promising in his first few games with us. Having said that, his performances for his country have painted much the same picture from what I've seen. I don't genuinely know which position suits him best either.

Mikey, on the other hand, I think is a bit different. He undoubtedly has talent on the ball but it is also true that in too many games his determination to try and make things happen has got the better of him and he has tried to do too much himself; taking on 4 players when it should have been 2 and consistently either running himself into trouble or down blind alleys.

The moot question is why he did this so frequently. Is he inherently selfish? I don't think so. I think the problem was that in such games either the effort or quality from those around him wasn't there and this was his frustration at that showing. Put him amongst a group of players who better support each other and who show greater attacking intent, then I think he would prove himself. It's a great pity that he got hurt when he did because Morrison had got them starting to play some nice attacking football at times in the games following his injury and he may have managed a few assists. I'd definitely keep and with Fellows gone, Price poor in that position and both Wallace and Grant set to leave we need a wide player.

Few players did themselves much credit in that last game Al and I agree that Bany had little influence when he came on but I still think that his previous outings showed some promise of what he might offer.

In any case, I think it is going to be difficult to get rid of any of our in contract players that we might want to get off the books and this then limits our ability to bring in better replacements for them.

Correct Omeg! Who would want them or pay Mepham?s wage? Someone could equally take a gamble on Dike if we don?t but no club would pay Wallace 25K a week or anywhere near this now when he?s had it at this level and too injury prone.

As for players not doing themselves credit - a lot of this is because they simply are not good enough. Very disappointed in Gilchrist coming from Chelsea and we are stuck with him. Then again the two loans from Villa were shockingly poor too as was Charlie Taylor. As for that Mustapha - does he even exist on Planet Earth?

Certainly agree with you that far too many of our incoming for this season have been failures -and some of them rather expensive ones.

Phillips isn't cheap but has definietly earnt his place, Bielik I think is a good acquisition (though, again, my understanding is that his wages are quite high for a player who may rarely start) and I really like Campbell who has improved since being moved to CB but who worked hard to transition from the MLS to the Championship and to cover RB until Imray's arrival. Signing Mepham (especially on his salary) and Gilchrist on the other hand have proven poor acquisitions.

Loan-wise, I think O'Leary has done ok after those initial fumblings and will likely be offered something for next season and Imray (much improved under Morrison) is definitely one to try and keep but Taylor has been very variable and Illing Junior, Jimoh-Aloba and Mustapha have all been poor.

Our recruitment over the summer certainly has to be much better!

Bany doesnt look like he has it but its difficult to tell as he hasnt played for over a year. Rustiness was always going to be there. I hope he can get back to being the player the recruitment team assumed they were getting. Either he will have a big pre season and take it from their, or he will fade away with bench appearances here and before being loaned to obscurity.

Price is a good player, but I think he has some parts of his game to iron out like his decision making and composure. He is still young though and I am sure he will treat this year as a learning curve and hopefully come back better. He works exceptionally hard and protects his full back well.

Given the inevitable financial pressures I would keep O’Leary, Imray, Campbell, Styles, Diakite, Johnston and Price. Bielik and Bany are risky given their injury record, but Bielik looked decent and worth a punt if finances permit.

The performances of the striker trio of Dike, Heggebo and Maja do not justify retention, but contracts will dictate their future I suspect.
Mozza’s successful return to 4-4-2 may well dictate we retain one of them. Heggebo would be my choice of the 3.

Interesting to see what happens with our youngsters in terms of loans.
