WW2 wasn't a "war of choice" for Britain and there was a moral aspect to it to defeat fascism and the threat to both allies and ourselves. It cost the lives of not only so many who served, but of a great many innocent civilians and impacted on so many families that it should not be forgotten for that reason alone, let alone as standing as lesson for doing our very best to avoid such a catastrophic conflict again.
