But even though Doncaster were "so poor" in the words of McCann, Benson's free-kick from a crossing position forced the only save Lo-Tutala had to make all game."
A local derby at home in a game we had to win, that fact says so much at how poor we are, we created very little.
I am amazed that it is Sunday night and MH is still the boss and silence from the club, we play again in two days surely they aren't giving him another game.
How badly run is our club?
"When a Red Card + Penalty Happens:
No Attempt to Play the Ball: If a defender commits a foul that denies an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO) by pulling, pushing, or holding without trying to play the ball, it is a penalty and a red card.
When a Red Card is Downgraded (Double Jeopardy Mitigation):
If a defender makes a genuine attempt to play the ball to challenge for it, but still commits a foul that denies a goal-scoring opportunity inside the box, the penalty is given, but the card is reduced from red to yellow."
The player was behind Watmore and pulled as he tied to get around him. By the letter of the law it was a red card UNLESS the referee thought it wasn't a 'DOGSO' situation. The ref was a solid 30-40 yards away (as he often was on Saturday), and didn't take any information from his assistant, so it was pretty much a guess.
Changes very little because a) We're seldom better against ten, and b) Second half they would have found two goals whatever happened because we went to sleep and they turned up. We're in these situations because too often we've coasted, failed to set up correctly, got the tactics wrong, not motivated players enough, and ended up with fewer points from very winnable games (Donny, Burton, Wimbledon in recent memory should have all been wins, and we'd have been 8 points better off... but we're failing on and off the pitch.
18 dropped? Could argue a further point at Stockport too as we were 2-2 after about an hour.
Donny, 3 lost
Wimbledon (H), 2
Bolton, 1
Reading, 2
Bradford, 2
Mansfield, 3
Wimbledon (A), 3
Wigan, 2
In terms of either leading or being in positions where we should have held on for something (Bolton, us having equalised on 90 mins). You get a bit of luck where points are gained too over a season, but on balance, dropping that many... it's not good enough. That also overlooks game where the opposition look poor compared to what we know we can do on our day. I know everyone has their least favourite players, but this squad is capable of being 15-20 points better off right now.
You can't cry over spilt milk! look forward. What we going to do different at Bradford city tomorrow night? Unless we get Gore back going to be a man short in midfield. If not play Cover in front of the defence. I'd play Agbaire for Adeboyega in central defence. Get Ayres back if we can in a front 3 with Nombe & Whatmore. If not play J Holmes on the right. Dawson & Rafferty got no one better in their positions so keep their places.
ELK, We had a good rattle with George on Sat. He ended up sat on the next table to us.
He gave you a good report pal....lol
