Yes it might mean a bit of moaning from the fans if the ball ends up in row Z but I'm happy to see them having a pop on goal rather than wimping out and passing it to a team mate who is probably in no better position to score.
I agree with you Grist to a point anyway, it seems that a lot of teams have good posession but not many shots, which kind of proves your point, although if teams are in front then I can understand that they would try and keep the ball longer, even with basic passing because the other team will be trying to get the ball back and thus tiring themselves out if they struggle to get the ball. Slept on it so with a clear mind I saw the game like this:

Difficult first 25 minutes and credit to Pompey for coming at us like they did. It made us sit up and realise we were in for a tough game. The tempo was very high and I wondered who would buckle first as to the fitness levels as the game drifted on.

Have to say we scored against the run of play but what a class well worked goal. Wondered why smudge was cupping his ear but I know now. Second half came out not switched on and a rare blooper by Barlaser (excellent game btw) and a great finish by Harness, woke us up good and proper.

Again I think it was rather fortuitous that Ihiekwe got injured when he did and Warne subbed him for Ogbene. Prior to that, no one was sure when Warne would introduce Oggy. Immediate impact as they attempted to put three players on him which dragged their play across, leaving them exposed down the left of which Miller took full advantage of. Oggy continued to make mugs of any of their players 'attempting' to get the ball from him.

The goals. Great work ethic from one and all getting involved and they were scored accordingly. Smudge a good brace and great thinking for the 2nd, Wood (are you reading this gru?) a great headed goal, Wiles a very well taken goal.

Overall, a solid performance and questions answered in all departments. I thought Pompey brought us a great game and tested everything about us but, when it mattered the most we just upped it a gear and blew them away with some great passing football. Even when Smudge went off and Ladapo and Kayode came on, I didn't fell edgy such was our powerhouse midfield.

It will have taken a lot out of the lads yesterday and hopefully Warne just has them light training or just working on set pieces etc tomorrow, in readiness for another big battle on Tuesday night. Well done everyone for achieving probably our best result so far this season and against a very commendable side.

I didn't think yesterday was a planned reduced attendance.
It did have under capacity because pompey brought 1200 instead of the 2500 or so that Sunderland will bring so there's the reduced numbers we needed
So more home fans were allowed in including the 400 gratuity tickets

As others have said why the Sunderland fans can't be kept behind is baffling. I once asked an Police Inspector this question outside the ground when we beat Donk 2-1 and he said it affected civil liberties. Roughly translated as we don't want the hassle and it's an easier life for us even though we still get the overtime

A mate of mine who has West Indian origins is not happy how Black lives matter have had the power to influence the "establishment",he finds it insulting and embarrassing. seeing the knee being taken. We are not racist in this country but this movement imported from the USA is trying to create racial disruption. What should be happening is the very very very wealthy Californian owners of the social media companies should be be brought to task for allowing hatred to be shown. They can control this but they are now so powerful they determine what goes out or not.Politically this is very damaging globally.Recently much publicity was made of the England lads'missed penalties. The abuse they received via social media nearly all came from abroad but we were portrayed as a racist country.WE ARE NOT RACIST.Let's follow other clubs and stop taking the knee, our lads know there is no discrimination here. Finally how ironic that the SKY.BBC and ITV were glamorising NUFC for being taken by a state that has barbaric laws that can send a woman to a death penalty for the smallest offence.Do womens lives matter?

Did you see that someone had hired a mobile billboard Bill.
It was driving round and round St J Park yesterday with a picture of the Saudi Prince and the murdered and dismembered journalist Khashoggi
