......love it Cayton. At least I know enough to beat you in last season's PL and this years Euros comp without even using all the teams I should have

Are you looking forward to attempt at beating both CAM and me this coming season in the PL?

Fancy a small wager loser to pay either Bluebell Wood and Rotherham Hospice?

The 21/22 rules sound good to me, Brin. Thank you as always for steering this through.

One point of clarification. What is the deadline for submitting a Joker? Doesn’t seem unreasonable to me that you can just notify at the time you put in your choices for any given match day.

I quite like the idea of a knock-out cup competition running in parallel while the FA cup is on. It doesn’t involve choosing actual teams since the outcome of any ‘match’ is simply the the points actually scored in the regular match day competition that day by the two players who have been pitted against each other. (Any joker score and bonus points would have to be excluded and we would need to have some deciding factor in the rare event of both contestants having the same number of points that week. Probably a ‘replay’ would work where the scores of the next match day results are used.)

Yes you have got the idea ct.you play as yourself ...on points being level we have the goals totals to fall back on if drawing in a closest to pin if it’s drawn or as you say a replay is just as good solution..

The only reason I said it should run parallel with league is as you get down the rounds it would involve fewer and fewer posters which might slow down the league .but yes it could work at cup weekends for first few rounds anyway..it’s up to brin really it was just an idea and how we go about is open…

CTM, thanks for your kind words of encouragement on me running the PL. There may well be the odd glitch from myself along the way but, nothing that cannot be amended quickly before anyone goes into a meltdown . I managed it okay last season.

Regarding the Joker, this can be submitted on any given match day, barring the FA Cup comp, which I will come to shortly. It would be best if it is highlighted either in bold or put in CAPITALS at the top of an entry so it can be easily recognised.

FA Cup competition - Great idea from clarkey1974 and I'll definitely run it as explained by both clarkey and yourself. I am in total agreement on your points of: ''Any joker score and bonus points would have to be excluded and we would need to have some deciding factor in the rare event of both contestants having the same number of points that week. Probably a ‘replay’ would work where the scores of the next match day results are used''. Shouldn't be too difficult so long as we have sufficient entrants to see it to the end

I will probably give it another day or two before I put out the rules and regs for the forthcoming season, just in case anyone else has any further suggestions on everything. Cheers.

Brin - what Clarkey is suggesting is exactly what we used to do in the olden days. Don't you remember them? I'd play it in parallel with the actual FA Cup (e.g. on the Saturdays/weekends when the actual FA Cup games are played). The only complication we used to have is when we don't have exactly 16, 32...etc. players. What we used to do then is give a bye in the first round to the highest placed in the league, a bit like Prem/Champ get a bye in the real FA Cup. So for example if there are 22 players in the league you'd need to get it down to 16. So 6 matches would be played between the lowest 12 players in the league and the top 10 in the league would get the bye. That would then give you 16 for the next round.

clarkey1974, great idea all round and thanks for this . I hope Cayton doesn't get knocked out in the first round, I don't think he could take it.

Yes that’s correct that’s only thing is getting the numbers right so the draw pans out…pretty sure we have lots of entrants or there seamt to be anyway…so I reckon we should get to the 32 mark at least think 64 might be pushing it…

Other than your solutions is have a prelim round to get the right number down or might not be fair way but have the first 32 entrants in the first league game as the 32…

And also if the entrants doesn’t post then I am afraid they are out of cup…not sure any average score thing will work of fair in this format…

Now maybe not be a good time to suggest my champions league format idea and breakaway league for the top six…just joking…brins abacus couldn’t stand it..😜

We've never had as many as 32, the most we had last season was 27 at one stage but, the wrong words were said by some so others packed it in, shame really. Let's hope those that initially left look to give it another go this time around.
