The only reason I said it should run parallel with league is as you get down the rounds it would involve fewer and fewer posters which might slow down the league .but yes it could work at cup weekends for first few rounds anyway..it’s up to brin really it was just an idea and how we go about is open…
clarkey1974, great idea all round and thanks for this . I hope Cayton doesn't get knocked out in the first round, I don't think he could take it.

Brin - what Clarkey is suggesting is exactly what we used to do in the olden days. Don't you remember them? I'd play it in parallel with the actual FA Cup (e.g. on the Saturdays/weekends when the actual FA Cup games are played). The only complication we used to have is when we don't have exactly 16, 32...etc. players. What we used to do then is give a bye in the first round to the highest placed in the league, a bit like Prem/Champ get a bye in the real FA Cup. So for example if there are 22 players in the league you'd need to get it down to 16. So 6 matches would be played between the lowest 12 players in the league and the top 10 in the league would get the bye. That would then give you 16 for the next round.

Yes that’s correct that’s only thing is getting the numbers right so the draw pans out…pretty sure we have lots of entrants or there seamt to be anyway…so I reckon we should get to the 32 mark at least think 64 might be pushing it…

Other than your solutions is have a prelim round to get the right number down or might not be fair way but have the first 32 entrants in the first league game as the 32…

And also if the entrants doesn’t post then I am afraid they are out of cup…not sure any average score thing will work of fair in this format…

Now maybe not be a good time to suggest my champions league format idea and breakaway league for the top six…just joking…brins abacus couldn’t stand it..😜

We've never had as many as 32, the most we had last season was 27 at one stage but, the wrong words were said by some so others packed it in, shame really. Let's hope those that initially left look to give it another go this time around.

Well 27 people have read this thread so I guess that's a good rough indication of initial interest and we usually get a 40-50% drop off during the season so expect only around 15 will make it to the end of a 46 week marathon.

The most we ever had join the PL was 62 back in the days when we predicted the actual scores and it took me and a pretty powerful Excel spreadsheet between 2-3 hours each week to calculate the results and table. Only around 30 made it to the end that season.

First round of cup isn’t until November so if there were a large number of entrants maybe we could eliminate those who haven’t entered any predictions for the previous 4 rounds before the fixtures are set. 4 rounds would allow for any holiday absences. That would stop any accusations of unfair match ups from opponents no shows.
