I like Starmer, I am just not sure that he's enough of a leader to win an election.

That said, he's more a Leader than Johnson, but he's not got the charisma that BJ has.

We need something of a mixture of Burnham and Starmer.

Can't see anyone really on the Labour benches who would make a decent PM - and the Tories aren't far behind!

I always worry when people use the word ‘establishment’, because no one can seem to agree what it actually means, apart from to mean ‘people I don’t agree with’. It was used during the referendum vote to pretend the leave campaign was an ‘anti-establishment’ movement despite having the vast majority of the governing party and 80% of the print media behind it.

Worry not. When you live in the one of the the most class-ridden, class-divided countries in the world, ‘the establishment’ is a pretty straightforward term. It is that nexus of privately-educated individuals and families that have access to vast amounts of inherited wealth… who just so happen to rule the roost over our politics, major corporations and business, judiciary, media, civil service….in fact any institution that’s part of the exercising of power in this country.

One such school, Eton, has provided 2 of the last 3 Prime Ministers. Begad! That’s more than from Ellis Guildford, William Sharpe, Bulwell Academy, the ex-William Crane and Player Comprehensives put together!!! Hats off to Eton, what an achievement

As it’s an accurate term, it’s also a very dangerous one. So rest assured that The Establishment itself – Pfeffel, Trump, Farage etc. and their friends in the media – will do everything they can to obscure its meaning, strip it of meaning and confuse the people as to what the establishment actually is. But some people still know what it means.

We live in a fairly rural part of France. Our neighbours are not particularly worldly but frequently greet us with laughter about the latest antics of the Brit government and the leaders. Boris is a particular source of mirth. They cannot imagine how anyone voted for him or Brexit.

I don't think she had any choice, and more will probably follow. After a week of repeatedly insisting there was no party and all rules were followed, the Prime Minister has now decided to find out what actually happened!!!! I suspect a few will be sacrificed to save his skin, with a promise they will be looked after and given another job when the storm has blown over.

If voters don't wake up to what a fraudster he is, this once-proud country will sink ever deeper in the cesspit.
