The reason Rúben has raised so much interest is because of IB which means he’s proved he can improve a player. Rúben’s value will be over inflated come January which again means IB has done his job well should the owners decide to cash in. That said they might actually have a couple of league players in their crosshairs come January and might want to keep Rúben for the final push for promotion. Either way IB is here for the long term.
If we have targets why are we not signing them now? Why wait until January? Other clubs in our League have continued to strengthen or add players.
I’m not convinced the club will be that active in January, unless we agree a sale for RR.

I'm not confident we'll achieve anything but the playoff positions until we plug the holes we still have in the squad and the issues we have surrounding squad depth.

When we have our entire first team squad fit and firing we are more than capable of beating the majority of the teams in this league and if we remain injury and illness free I'm confident we'll finish second or third at most.

However, the likelihood of us remaining injury free for the remainder of the season is very unlikely and when we lose players, we simply don't have the squad depth to cover for their losses. For example:

    - Patterson returns to Sunderland and is replaced by Slocombe. I have no doubt Sam is a good goalkeeper but he is not as good as AP and has lost us points this season in the process e.g Eastleigh

    - We lose one of or multiple players out of Cameron, Lacey and Rawlinson, leaving us to play full backs at centre back, destroying our defensive organisation and leaving us even more vulnerable to balls into the box e.g Eastleigh/Halifax/Woking

    - We lose Palmer and we have to replace him with Francis. I'm sure has potential but at the moment I've seen nothing to suggest he is good enough and will cost us points

    - We, god forbid, lose Woots or Ruben. Our entire goal threat goes down the toilet as Mitchell and Sam are unfortunately not good enough, which will cost us even more points.

Our lack of depth was completely laid bare last night. Having just conceded our typical avoidable goal, I can imagine IB would have made some changes to try and win what seemed a winnable game, yet he made only one, leaving us to hang onto a point rather than attempting to get three.

Until we add a centre back, a holding midfielder, a goalscorer behind Woots and potentially get AP back on loan, I doubt we'll be able to trouble the top 3 consistently and we'll have to settle for the lottery of the playoffs again.

It's possible the Broz could spend a few bob in the Jan Tranny window, but it's also possible they might not.....

Seems to me the plan is loans only.

Les Bradd did say, (on one of Mace-Ache's podcasts), that the Bros had suggested to him that they did have money to spend on the squad if needs be. Whether they will or whether they won't is a different story.

Can't argue with much if any of that.

Playoff bound is without doubt the most likely outcome in my eyes.
