I think that was more in reference to your comment about him keeping possession.... imho hes actually not very good at that as seen in all 3 games he's played this season. Sunderland almost scored twice due to him passing direct to their players in bad areas to do that.

If you rate him thats fine, but hes been absolutely awful in the last 3 games and we cant afford another 1 of those on Thursday. Every player will have to be at their best to get anything and Harkes is nowhere near that atm so we better hope he has one of his random good games

I have no axe to grind with Harkes and very rarely have a go at him on here BUT the decision to sign him on a one year extension was always fraught with danger given his relationship with a high % of our support.

On current form he should be nowhere near the team that plays against AZ on Thursday and i would be delighted if Tony can find another club for him and rip up his contract. In the Sunderland game i witnessed a player with very little interest in playing for us and yesterday reports tell me he was no better.

Two of those games were pre-season matches so we can't really take that into account IMHO. There is no doubt about it though, he let us down big time yesterday.

I actually think Meekison is unlucky not to have got a start ahead of Harkes and Sibbald. As for Harkes, he is squad player for me, but that's not to say he can't contribute positive to the season, one year contract was a bit pointless, but I reckon it was just to give a bit of continuity to the squad, so doesn't really fuss me, but seems to have turned element of support against him perhaps.

Actually, maybe it was a tactic by Ashgar, get the one year extension then force Ross to play him, so for the first time lots of fans are angry with someone else! The reaction just seems disproportionate, and as usual there is no in between, he is being ranked down there with Adam Barton. If he is as bad as some people are saying, the we are in serious trouble, because quite a few other players aren't much better.

No doubt red card was big factor in yesterday, but so too was the poor passing throughout the whole team, especially when down to ten, the negative tactics when we got reduced to ten, and the inability to threaten the opposition. He might have missed a header, but at least he was in there to miss it, can you say that about our attacking players, Fletcher aside?

I hesitate to mention this as it may seem as if I'm trying to defend Harkes, and I'm not, but the defending at the corner where Killie scored was piss poor and nothing to do with the fact were a player short at the time.

We should have killed the game off first 20-25 mins of second half when we were in the ascendancy and had the bulk of possession, but we carried little threat, never tested their keeper whole second half other than a Mulgrew free kick. Cujoe and Watt never got near Fletcher first half, our left side was dominated by the Killie right back, who had more pace than our entire team, and Cujoe has decent skill, can pick a pass, and has bit of dig about him, but unless he is getting the ball nearer the opposition box, then any time he beats an opponent he is too small to get away from the opponent over any distance. Middleton looked like he had been on pre-season with Charlie Adam and way off fitness.

TTT, everybody is entitled to their opinion, and it didn’t come across that you were trying to defend him. Shedka goes extreme accusing people of hating Harkes, but if you read the various posts, many just don’t rate the guy, and many performances from Harkes actually justify their opinion. I simply want the best for my club, and while he may have done a job over the past few seasons, now we are in the premiership, and pushing for the top half (and Europe), Harkes is simply not good enough, and recent performances show that. A one year extension, bearing in mind that means he will be looking at his next employment at least 6months in advance, further compounds that stupid (in many peoples eyes) decision. What makes it even more annoying for me, is that Harkes stalled that extension, which suggested he was hoping for something better, personally, I would have told him to do one!!

It was very clear he wanted out and he probably would have went English non league if the dollars were right. Our supporters are not stupid and will not forget. It comes across that he did us a favour wasting a year of his career with Dundee United when in reality most of us couldna wait to see the back of him.
