I agree IB,s style of football is more entertaining, but result wise , it is on par with our lowest ever position in the football pyramid to date, so i say again IB is no improvement on Ardley
So you misquoted Rainbow Pie he never said it was the best win in 30 years.

    Case closed.

My opinion is that the brand of football we play requires everyone to be on their game but footballers at this level just aren’t week in week out. Chesterfield can be rubbish but they’ve spent a quarter of a million on Tshimanga to bail them out when they are.
    Good post BFP

I hadn't noticed i961pie. I can add him to the list of posters who do this but I'm afraid he's a long way off NCMs Mouth Rushmore of Negativity lol.

Over a third of the season in, approaching half way.

This won't happen - but if we did equally well for the rest of the season and so did Chesterfield, Boreham Wood and Grimsby then the gap between us and top would more than double to over 14 points, which suggests we are probably further behind than we think we are - Unlikely we will end up 14 points plus behind the top 3 but it will be more than 6 at the current rate. There has been the odd weekend where we've got closer but generally there is a significant gap.

So what happens in January? Will the squad be improved, will it stay the same or will it become weaker with players being sold?

Yeah, what you say squares with what I guessed earlier (post #99). I surprised IB didn't go in for more decisive changes like he did at Grimsby for example. But this time his subs were Ardleyesque, late and just like for like.
We were hamstrung again at CB though. From his interview it's clear Cameron wasn't fit to play, so he didn't feel he could go to a back 4.
So the main probs are at centre-back again....squad is one short, Lacey cannot keep himself available, IB doesn't trust Brindley or Chicksen to play in a 2, main man Cameron not available. That's twice the CB crisis has struck this season and coincides with 4 defeats. Bad luck? Probably not, we should've had it covered
I’ll be at Boreham Wood too, so they have a chance to redeem themselves. But that was awful. We really created nothing.

Have you ever seen a win on your trips over, or are you our bogey man ?

Well, you can expect a bounce back, some reaction at least.

I recognise what you describe, like a slow death, in the grips of a reticulated python, which is pretty evident from very early on. Our fans know it, many were writing it off as soon as they scored. That's why drastic measures were needed but were not forthcoming from IB (mainly cos' he was stuck with the back 5).
Glad I wasn't there, sounds like a bad dream. Better luck with the B'Wood match.

I agree. The way we play makes us look a very impressive team when we perform well like we did against Solihull, but most of the players at this level are naturally inconsistent, otherwise they would already be playing at a higher level. On those inevitable days when it doesn't 'click', and when the opposition set out to press us and disrupt the way we play, then we tend to lose. The team that wins the title will be the one that can still grind out results on their bad days, partly by having a player like Tshimanga, but also by adopting a more pragmatic approach when necessary. If we can't play out from the back and build through midfield as we wish, then it's not a crime to be more direct if the game requires it, especially when we have someone like Wootton as a target man and a regular goalscorer.

    Or a decent striker...
