Fair comment....well made !
We can't defend for toffee and yet some have suggested playing our best central defender Cameron as a defensive midfielder??
I don’t get why some are getting irate about tonight. We have drawn away so a playoff rival. We have drawn with arguably our best defender and our best holding midfielder absent.
That was a side that was cobbled together. A back 4 who between them haven’t played a lot of minutes. 3 midfielders who at best, warm the bench.
We are playing with a forward who seems to have gone AWOL.
When I saw that side I genuinely feared for us. The fact that we have drawn isn’t the end of the world IMO. I even saw someone moaning about us bringing on a 4ft player whilst they brought on a 6ft 8 donkey. Who should we have brought on? We had nothing on the bench.
I do agree with some of the comments about the keeper. He is definitely worse than what we have.
What also needs to be considered is freshening the squad up.
That’s five of the top seven we’ve now taken the lead at and not won any of them.
Great coach, **** manager. Prove me wrong, Ian.
Because it’s not as easy as that. How many centre backs have you witnessed play in the holding role successfully? Please don’t use Ed Francis as an example as that really didn’t work.
The way Notts play Cameron would get crucified in midfield. Cameron is good in the ball because he does the simple stuff well and generally speaking play is in front of him. A luxury he won’t have as a midfielder. Nor will he get time.
If we are worried about extra defensive bodies why not just play an extra defender, eerrmmm as a defender?
Certainly not the cagey 0-0 draw I predicted! Probably a fair result because both sides could have scored more. We had some good moments, but we looked really dodgy when they ran at us. I know it was a cobbled together centre midfield, but the combination of Francis, Brunt and Vincent is never going to work. The defence had very little protection from midfield, and Ruben (who looked a lot better in Eli's role) probably won more tackles than they did. Wootton didn't have a bad game, but offered no real goal threat. The disallowed penalty was right in front of us and thanks to the lino ended up being the correct decision. Jaros got to the ball first and their player fell over his arm.
Even though their ground is definitely non-league standard, I have to say the pitch was excellent. No excuses on that front.
Woots goes missing yet again, is that 5 games now
