Point taken but any moans I have come from the performance not the result. And I/we have seen less able players than the current crop put a more reliably better shift in, even in defeat, than some of those representing us on Saturday

Warne's job is safe for now until the end of the season at least. We have as much money in the compensation pot as we do in the transfer and wages pot. Not a lot. Sacking PW would see the rest of his staff, they come and go as a job lot, follow him through the door. As things stand, I don't believe we have the cash to pay compo.

He's a tad weird and some of the things he says in interviews are cringeworthy. Never a dull moment and he reflects Clowes' wish to bring in players who can not only play but also be "decent chaps" into the bargain. There does seem to be a togetherness, a camaraderie between the staff and the players and that's a good thing.

Is PW really the coach in charge or is he more the mouthpiece? Hammy does the set piece routines, we know that as coaches and players have said so. Training routines and tactics. Are they PWs? From what one sees on the touchline on match day and bits of training you see on on RamsTV, I get the impression tactics are more RBs territory than PWs. PWs "education" is in Sports Science and fitness and that is his forte. Each to his own, each having their own bit of the training pie recipe and working well together with PW as the front man.

I may be wrong but that is the impression I get.

I'd like more urgency in the play, I'd like to see us able to get 5 and 10 yard passes to a teammate, I'd like to see us defending 10 yards further upfield, I'd like to see more movement off the ball as, all too often, the man in possession doesn't have any choice but the defensive one, a ball played sideways or, more likely, backwards, I'd like to see more players in the oppo's box, more often and it would be brilliant if one of them was Yates (or whoever our CF is that day).

IMO, the things I want are basics. I'm wanting fish, chips and mushy peas on a plate, stuff that we can afford and not the totally unaffordable Beluga caviar with a side of asparagus and saffron pommes duchesse.

I'm having ham sarnies for lunch but your last para makes one think, I'll perhaps have egg on toast instead🤔

Your last but one para is, accidentally or deliberately, the biggest criticism of Warne and his staff yet but it's sums things up on the field perfectly!

I have no expectation that Clowes would get rid of Warne, unless he was massively failing in his brief to keep Derby in the championship. My point really was the increase in murmurings amongst fans, both those I have contact with and those whoa re vocal online in various forums, and indeed the comments in the DET, which is quick to surface whenever the situation gets a little sticky.

I'm pretty sure that it isn't the cost of the compensation that stops Clowes and the Board sacking him, more that he is a pragmatist, not a person to be swayed by vocal fans, who are always willing to splash somebody else's cash on changing the manager or buying x players when they perceive matter son the pitch are not to their liking. Warne has to date met the targets set for him, perhaps has exceeded them we don't actually know.

Its perfectly valid to criticise Warne, always of course being aware that the team is still work in progress AND there have been unfortunate injuries that have quite clearly affected the balance of the team.

Warne is a pragmatic coach, I don't know whether MA's observations are correct, but his reputation is as a coach that can get teams performing and promoted on relatively small budgets.

AF's comment on application is interesting and its one I hear a lot from fans of many teams. I'm fairly sure that very few players don't give their all when out the pitch but if one is playing for a cautious coach, who is fully aware that other teams have better players, then its not surprising that a safety first approach is adopted, other coaches may be more "gung ho", but we'd be criticising that if it resulted in say the 6-2 thrashing that The owls got last game against Watford.

I'd agree that the basics of passing etc. seem to go awry at times, but then again we are not talking about a team of million pound players here and in the frenetic atmosphere of a match its understandable.

Having said all that, it is worth taking a step back and remembering that less than 2 years ago Derby were on the brink of going out of business and whilst it might not be pretty most of the time, this season is all about survival in the championship. I've watched some awful stuff played at Pride Park over 4 decades and this team is by no means the worst of the bunch.

Derby have tried the play with style way and its cost millions in compensation for managers and got the team nowhere but into administration, a wee bit of patience is required before we are in a position to think about that again, if we ever are.

Look at the goal difference when looking at a table .
It tells you exactly where you are perfomance wise.
Then compare it to the teams around you.

You'll find that those around are far more vulnerable to losing.
You are fine for the levels you set yourselves and results you need Stop panicking

Goal difference, especially at this stage of the season, is likely to say more about who you’ve played than where you are ‘performance wise’.

Don’t see anyone panicking, it’s still early November after all, but the fact is that tonight we’re now one of six clubs on 15 points just three points (and a better GD) above the ‘drop zone’.

Or in a glass half full observation, just 6 pts off a play off place!!

Nobody on here is panicking, but prior to the away win at Coventry, there were certainly murmurs from other fans, which tbh I consider ridiculous, given Warne has delivered promotion. But then that is the way of a lot of fans!

If we were in a small group at the bottom of the table 3pts off a relegation spot, I might be a tad concerned, but in such a big group, one or two bad results aren't going to be an issue, because the reality is that not all the teams around or below us will or can win. It would be nice to put say 6 pts on the board before December, but if we don't I will not be fearing for our safety, there is a lot of football to be played.
