I wondered how 8th would figure in the history of the Premier League should we finish there? I found out that we had already done that before (in 2003) and indeed finished in the top ten at least 3 times in Premier League history. During the Skates spell in the top flight, for all of their massive spending beyond their means, the best they managed was 9th and five of their 7 years they finished 13th, 16th, 17th, 14th and 20th - classic bedblocking.

You can't use the PL as a stopline in history, it would wipe out just about every club bar ManU's and Chelsea's. Is that what you really want Proc?
Accept the truth and get on with trying to emulate the successes of the South Coasts most 'successful' club.
