I wondered how 8th would figure in the history of the Premier League should we finish there? I found out that we had already done that before (in 2003) and indeed finished in the top ten at least 3 times in Premier League history. During the Skates spell in the top flight, for all of their massive spending beyond their means, the best they managed was 9th and five of their 7 years they finished 13th, 16th, 17th, 14th and 20th - classic bedblocking.

Despite whatever either of the two main clubs in Hampshire have achieved historically, personally it doesn't matter.

As a Saints fan I'm not interested in them, their history or anyone else's. Just want Saints to continue to grow in stature.

Seen us play football in all 4 divisions and at Wembley (5 times), and that before the slide. I've done my time. Life changes, you find new hobbies, especially when you've satisfied all your ambitions with one of them...unlike you lot!!

At what point will you think, "yep, that's as good as it gets" with supporting Scum? 8th???
