I agree with Sui . Andy is blue through and through..becoming manager is slow/fast tracking to the sack and leaving his beloved club/employer...cf Guy W. He is bringing through some great youngsters with the right attitude..long may it continue.

[quote="pompeygun". Dario Gradi type appointment. But Andy is too valuable to lose & if its a simple Manager role then not for me.[/quote]
This could be an option Gunny but if he continues this until the end of the season there is going to be a lot of pressure on the Board to offer him the job full-time. Whether he wants it or not is a different matter. Apparently he has been with the club for 25 years and I am sure will do what it takes to take us forward if he thinks that's what's wanted by the Club and the fans.
It could be a very difficult decision but if he keeps us up he should be given the freedom of the City, a squad we can't afford, a house at Sandbanks, a bank account for his pooch...![]()

Keeping AA at the club is far more important. We need to bring on the young players and Andy is the man for that. What chance he would be here in 12 months if he's made manager?
Have to agree with Sui.
Why not? Look what Bournemouth got from Eddie Howe.
Recent events on and off the pitch, our 4 match run in and next manager, whoever that is, to be discussed when the Truss convenes at 2 p.m
I don't agree with those who shrink from doing something for fear of what they might lose. The best man is needed for the job and if that man is Awford then appoint him.
Would you really want to appoint a man who means nothing if he goes? I want Pompey to employ a winner.
We should be looking to employ people 'we can't afford to lose', throughout the club.
Bring in Jim Smith as mentor...Andy and Jim's Blue and White Army
Lets just see who applies in the summer. 4 matches don't make a season, nor do 6, especially if you're opinion is that this squad have massively underachieved, and have been scared into putting a shift in, at the end of the season, when their status of being professional footballers looked on the line.
Awford has released the shackles that Barker put on them, and kept it simple. They have matched the opposition in effort and look what happens...they're making a mockery of their previous form and current position.
If we're intent on building for the future, lets have Awford as director of football, to help the board make football decisions (3 managers in a season has cost time and money, that we don't have to waste), continue building a successful youth programme, and generally get the club adequately prepared to succeed.
If the applicants are poor, then look to Awford to manage, but we really don't have to, and shouldn't make another rash decision, or let our sentiments rule what is
AA made 8 changes today - at least 1 enforced mind. Maybe it was a fact finding mission for him to have a look at the squad in alot of ways. Find out the shysters and the ones who don't have the ability and only know how to talk themselves up.
Is Awford savvy enough to be a manager? We don't need a nice guy in charge. And it seems to me that he's looked at the way the club's been run this season and knows what needs to change.
