AA has done a fantastic job in galvanising the team and the fans .
He has given the players confidence and shown he can pick a team .
If he keeps us up , should he be given the job permanently ?
My vote yes . How can the Board do otherwise ?
BIG YES FROM ME.
There is no way that a club the size of Pompey should be entrusted to an inexperienced manager, until he has done his time in the lower leagues.
Oh, wait...
I'm torn on this one. It's early days but he has done a great job so far. Wait until the end of the season, see where we are and take time to consider the best option, not someone's mate like the last deBarkle. The next appointment is critical. We can't afford to end up with another season of performances like this one.
Well done to the Board for making what appears to be, at this time, the correct decision in a desperate situation.
THE FUTURES BRIGHT,THE FUTURE IS BLUE,AA BLUE N WHITE ARMY
A definite no from me.
He's done a fine job, for a long time. bringing youth through to the first team. That's what he is good at and that's what he should be doing in the long term.
He doesn't want the managers job and he is wise in not aiming for it. It shows maturity beyond his years to realise its better to be happy in your work and stay where you are the right fit. Why would he risk becoming another on the list of ex players who get tarnished by failing in management?
3 great results but temper it with the realism that a sample of 3 is not a guarantee of future success.
Horses for courses.
At the moment, I am agreeing with Sui. Wait until the end of the campaign.
If he doesn't want it, it would be wrong to force it on him. He is brill with the youth squad, who seem to have gone off the boil since he moved up, but that may be because they are blooding even younger players with match experience.
If we have a strong run in and finish mid table, I think we can attract the right man, even on a shoe-string budget. Isn't that right, Neil?

Tend to agree with Sui as well. The only way I could see a win win is if Andy was given like a overall head of football job. Thinking outside the box rather than just "Manager". Dario Gradi type appointment. But Andy is too valuable to lose & if its a simple Manager role then not for me.
Given the choice between Awford being manager, or a new manager coming in and getting rid of him...what would it be?
I can't decide. For starters I'd like to see us safe with a couple of games to go and then see how the team performs.
One way to look at it is when AA tookover from Whitts for 3 games he achieved 2 draws and a loss with an unfit squad. Now he's taken over from Barker with a fit squad it's 3 out of 3 wins.
