Having run one or two in my time, I'm quite a fan - and as I much as I like the look (and performance) of the new R400, I never thought I'd see the day when the price-tag of the humble Golf hit the 50k mark..

If they take an old Golf shopping trolley and manage to knock up a 400bhp beast with semi-intelligent 4 wheel drive, electronic difflocks, around 280bhp per tonne and a sub 4 second 0-60 dash, then I will gladly doff my cap their way..

From what I've seen most supercharged cars are usually driven by 2 types of people;

1) Young, glamorous, rich and enjoying life.
2) Fat, bald, rich and enjoying their second childhood.
