I remember 78. I was 9 and in school we were all talking about getting a days holiday if we won (Ally McLeod had a lot to answer for).

I remember playing fitba in the street and local parks around that time with the white balls with the black patches/diamonds - they made every goal look brilliant. I mind we used to rip up squares of bog roll and throw it everywhere - very Argentina it was.

This will be my 13th but the first one I remember was the 74 World Cup.

I remember all the Scotland games that year but I clearly remember Haiti scoring against the Italians,Italy had,nt let a goal in for many games

This will be my 13th (unlucky for some).

1st I mind was the '70 won, but only collecting the coins that the garage behind my grandparent's house had to give away with petrol. We had them all, no idea where they went.

1st I watched was the '74, but not much of it. '78 was the 1st one I really took interest in

The 1st one I went to was '98 in Paris. Currently it looks like it'll be the last too. As someone above said, if you get the chance, go! It's a brilliant thing to do, all fun, all booze, all fitba, nae hassle. Ace! Just a pity we may not qualify again in my lifetime
