Eustace showed what an old head can do, sure in some games against better opposition he may be found wanting, but yesterday he showed that he still has what it takes.

Is it just a matter of waiting for Omar to get used to the players, the club and the league before replacing Eustace in the holding role or is Eustace going to hold his place?

I'd give Omar a start vs Charlton on Tuesday. Three games in 7 days is too much for John, I think, and it would be good to see how Omar fares in a full game against a team of the same sort of quality we'll be facing all season.
Eustace did well yesterday against p,poor opposition, the balance was much better. The Championship is very different to Omar, the pace and everything must be a real shock to him. Once he has adjusted, he must start ahead o

Beginning of last season I said we could do with signing Eustace. We had failed before but Clough knew we had taken in midfield but to get the balance right in terms of attack and defence we needed a powerhouse in there.

Personally when he signed I was so pleased given that he was the man I thought we should bring in, on the basis of what we could afford. IMO he's still a decent player despite being another year older and I say we keep playing him until he shows signs that he cannot cope. That could be at any point in a game whereby he comes across a quicker midfielder, in which case Omar can step in and claim a place (like Thorne) but IMO when the opposition have a tank in midfield we need to play our own tank and that is John 'The Sherman' Eustace.

Nobody questions that Clough made some inspired signings - my favourite one being Chris Martin. But, the big difference between Clough and McClaren is that McClaren knows how to shape the team tactically and he puts round pegs into round holes.

Answering Rattea from another post and Chilli from this one - we are a much better team from 12 months ago with far more potential and yet we only had one new player on Saturday (namely Christie) in our starting 11. What is the difference?

In the TENERIFE Sun, Eustace was the only Derby player who made the Championship Team of the Week.
I missed the game personally as I am on a couple of weeks of holiday - Guess where.
Was his inclusion well deserved? I didn't see many posters giving him MOTM.

I thought MotM was between Ward and Christie. Love Hughes when he plays further up field and must be played up there. Hendrick who is one of my favourite players didn't really have a good game which was a disappointment.
Agree with Angry, Eustace had a good game but not MotM. Eustace could have been the best holding Midfielder in the Championship at the weekend though!
