What a steady performance from our John.

Very solid. Played the position how it is meant to be played.

Without being the star showed his experience when they pulled it level by encouraging the other players and keeping it simple, we do need some cover as he won't last playing the full season, better faster midfield players will run past him. At the moment deserves to play

Good solid performance. Only saw him get passed easily maybe once well into the 2nd half when he was probably knackered, which is when Omar should replace him. Definitely made the defence seem more secure although against a very weak Fulham team to be fair.

Ok, going to tempt a a bit of fate here...

He was signed by Clough as a bit part player, both player and Clough were slated at the time. Various reasons, inept manager, player looking for a wage etc. He was brought in at the time to help us stop conceding stupid goals in the last few minutes, which had cost us points.

Now people are calling for him to start. He is still capable of a full 90 minutes but not regularly. Just shows how far we have come and still how much of an impact the Clough players are having!

What's Mascarell's role here? I doubt he would have came here from Real Madrid if he was going to be a back-up to Hughes (in Mac's view at the time) and now Eustace.

Is it just a matter of waiting for Omar to get used to the players, the club and the league before replacing Eustace in the holding role or is Eustace going to hold his place?

I'd give Omar a start vs Charlton on Tuesday. Three games in 7 days is too much for John, I think, and it would be good to see how Omar fares in a full game against a team of the same sort of quality we'll be facing all season.

Eustace did well yesterday against p,poor opposition, the balance was much better. The Championship is very different to Omar, the pace and everything must be a real shock to him. Once he has adjusted, he must start ahead of Eustace.

He is only playing because we are desperate.. He still is a bit part player!
