True but niether have any of his acquisitions proven to be damp squibs though theres always time for Best to be the exception.[/quote]

Every manager makes a bad signing every now and then. If Best continues in this form he will be a failure, but that isnt enough to right schteves acquisitional talents off. Nothing i have seen so far (dawkins, christie, and numerous loanees)has proved the forest lot right about how awful he is in the transfer market. But he hasnt yet got us a Bryson or a Martin, so much remains to be seen. Obviously i hope he and his team are nigels equal at spotting a player.

My hope is that Thorne will prove to be on the level of Bryson and Martin - he was a great addition in my opinion - our best defensive midfielder since Seth.

Cyrus Christie seems to be a decent spot. It's worth noting that the position we're in means we would be taking more of a gamble taking a chance on unknown players, w

So one 'possible' good signing in over 12 months and still using those by the previous management.

That would suggest quite clearly that McClaren is not 100% better than anyone. Can it actually get much worse?

Can I just ask, what is your problem with McClaren and what's your problem with Derby County actually doing well?

I think Rattea should move to Sheffield so he can be closer to his friend Nigel.
We all appreciate what Nigel did while at Derby, but his talents were limited & we have moved on... The end.

    Dawkins - talented.
Christie - top buy. Makes you forget Brayford.
    Thorne - class above.
Shotton - Prem experience, Stoke physique.

Great loans like Ibe, Bamford, and Wisdom, better class of youngster coming in.

Yes, it could get much, much worse. Billy Davros worse, or Paul Jewell worse. Shudder.

Clough did very well and deserves respect, McLaren has been magnificent.

I'd say Thorne was an equal and Christie looks good for a league 1 purchase, of course in both Nige and Steves cases, we don't know how much of the finding a player is down to the manager, though presumably the final judgement on signing him is, and Nige's record is patchy on that score.
