    re: Know your place

    "were only not where we were 5 years ago because of venkys fcking us up royally. it was NOT a natural demise"
    The counter argument is that our rise was also not a natural rise , without Jack Walker would we ever have been Premier League ?
    "you make it sound like we didn`t deserve to be where we were under hughes and big sam"
    You deserve to be were you are , "its what happens on the pitch that counts"
    There is a big difference between deserving and expecting .
    Like I said , some folk and I include you in this category , just expect we should be at least top six .

    Agree with Needle. Our rise was as unnatural as it gets. Our natural place is alongside Burnley and Preston.

    The thing about the PL that distorts the natural order of things (i.e. the wealth clubs can generate from their own fanbase) is TV money.

    Rovers with 10 years in the PL were a bigger club to all practical extent that anyone who'd just been promoted, almost no matter how big they were. Because we'd been getting £40m a year in TV money to spend on wages that the promoted clubs hadn't.

    As long as Rovers were in the PL, we could act like a blowfish and thrown far more weight around that we naturally had. As soon as that TV money has gone though, thats it. Thats why we've jumped straight from a small PL club to a small Championship club.

    And thats why Sam Allardyce was worth 100 times his weight in gold to us. He'd have kept us in the division for another decade. He was our meal ticket, our PL safety, our £50m annual revenue and our 25,000 crowds. We may as well have burnt ever

Still can't get over the folly of our ludicrous fanbase in wanting him out.

    [quote="needle" .
    Of course we all want the best we all want to win every game and we would all love to see us back in the Premier League .
    But we are not the Blackburn Rovers of 20 years ago , not even the Blackburn Rovers of 5 years ago .
    I would say we are much nearer the Blackburn Rovers of the late 80`s . Promotion would be a massive achievement for the club now and to achieve it would take a massive effort from everyone . I believe a big part of it would be the fans . We have a talented squad of mainly young players and they are being managed by a relatively young manager .
    So instead of moaning whenever we dont win a game or play to our very best , get behind them and back them .
    There are fans of many other clubs in this League that would love to be where we are .[/quote]

    Pretty fair assessment that Needo. I think Brum are slightl
