C Powell and Stimac... I said to my mate the other night, Jim Smiths biggest mistake was letting Powell go and replacing him with Schnoor. Oh well. Igor was class above.

I've got to be honest and say that the jim smith team was far better than the current one imo. igor and asanovic were world class players and you just don't see that in the 2nd tier now days. you look at some of the quality that stepped up to be premier league players; carsley, deano, chris powell and even daryl powell amongst the two world class Croatians.

honestly there's no comparison. how many of our current side could step up?
definitely. martin possibly. Christie maybe but would get found out defensively.

na the more I think about it, no comparison.
The gap between Division 1 and ThePremiership was nowhere near as big back then, teams could go up and be competitive. Forest got promoted and finished 3rd the next season, that will never happen again.

Did Tony Dorigo come in before or after Schnoor?

Asanavic came in after promotion before our first premier league ganme though. I remember seeing him slot worldy passes through for croatia in euro 96 before he had kicked a ball for us and almost jizzing myself.

Clearly our premier league team was bet

According to Wiki, Schnoor 98-2000. Dorigo 98-2000.

I'd have Willems in as Martin cover.

Would take Yates,Rowett, Wassell or Igor at the back now, too

I dunno mate. as others have said the gap is 10 times wider than it was back in the day. I'm a huge fan of JR but the prem would be a big step up for him. he had a slow start to this season to be fair (he found himself on the bench until fairly recently).

I think it would be a big step for Bryson too. I just hope this current bunch get the chance to show if they can make the grade.
