Keith on a different thread posited that he was as impressed with our current squad as the Igor, Baiano squad. An interesting thought. So i thought id compare our 95/96 promotion squad (i know baiano hadn't joined yet but it seems a fairer comparison) to our current one. Here's the bald eagles

Igor and Sturridge? id have those 2, Chrissy powell, carsley and ward too

good post triz. are you missing asanovic? I think he joined in while we were in the 2nd tier? I may be wrong though.

I've got to be honest and say that the jim smith team was far better than the current one imo. igor and asanovic were world class players and you just don't see that in the 2nd tier now days. you look at some of the quality that stepped up to be premier league players; carsley, deano, chris powell and even daryl powell amongst the two world class Croatians.

honestly there's no comparison. how many of our current side could step up? hughes definitely. martin possibly. Christie maybe but would get found out defensively.

na the more I think about it, no comparison.
