There's something that's continually missed from discussions about our waning fans and that's the changing demographic of the town as a whole. Blackburn is now well on the way to becoming an Asian town, its a process that is more advanced than any other in England (including Bradford) and one that, by the very nature of birth rates among the ethnic community, is one that will get faster and faster. And that's not even factoring in white flight.
In my opinion the main long-term factor for why our crowds are getting smaller is that the percentage of our fanbase living within quick and easy reach of the ground is getting smaller. Remember this was happening even before Venkys and relegation. Ticket prices had to be slashed massively during the Hughes era to arrest falling crowds, even during a period of huge success on the pitch. And they had to be slashed massively again under Allardyce.
