I think you are looking at a lot of money and wages on a big gamble. At least six players and I think we would have a small squad capable at that level.
They got 7 ( not all in the summer)

Albrighton, Upson, Ulloa, Cambiasso, Simpson, Kramaric, Schwarzer last 2 in jan - £20 million spent.

The trouble with Leicester is their eyes are bigger than their bellies.

They had a good team and they just needed to build on that, establishing themselves in the top flight first.

But you get the impression that simply wasn't wasn't enough for them. Their owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, came out over the summer and made stupid remarks about Leicester being a "top 5 Premier League side within 3 years".

This is actually what he said:

"It will take a huge amount of money, possibly 10bn Thai Baht (£180m), to get there. That doesn't put us off. I am asking for three years, and we'll be there in the top 5."

Completely deluded. Reminds me of someone else up the A52 actually. More money than footballing sense.

They've bought wrongly, had the wrong ambitions too early on and screwed themselves in the process.

As for Derby, we don't have a cat in hells chance of Premier League survival. But you have to be in it to stand a chance. And we may not even get that.

Like any business there is never certainty as to whether you succeed or fail. What's certain is that the better organised you are the more likely you are to survive/progress.

The sad thing is that the really successful clubs don't run on a normal business model and don't need to survive by reference to commercially generated returns.

That makes it difficult for us. We do however have quality executives and commercially smart owners which means we are one of the best run clubs around. We should be thankful for that.

I think we'd survive in PL and at worst give it a good go but have to get there first.

If you went up would you consider 12 points a success?
