If we were to go up...

Do you think we could complete?

Looking at the PL table its the three that went up last year in reverse order ... Fester have a very strong squad compared to anything in the championship even before they added a few.

Do you think our squad is even close to theirs of last season?

I prefer not to speculate at this stage, but I'd say that we would need 3 or 4 quality players as a minimum to survive in the prem, question is, would they come to Derby and could we afford them?

Didnt fester get three or four?

I think you are looking at a lot of money and wages on a big gamble. At least six players and I think we would have a small squad capable at that level.

I live in leicestershire. Most of the blokes I know are Leicester fans. They all feel that they are a poorer team than last year. It's not the 3 or 4 it's the right 3 or 4 . I do feel that as a championship side Leicester were a far better team than us last season but I feel they had no prem quality players whereas we had 3 or 4 So with the right 3-4 we could compete. But with the wrong 3-4 we would make QPR look good

Hendrick - Thorne - Hughes is good enough for sure.

Ince (he wants to come to The Rams) - Martin - Russell would be capable at that level.

Back 5 would need looking at.

I'd like to see Butland signed up. Maybe we could go in for Wisdom?

Most importantly the coaching staff and the club in general is ready to make the step up.

    Sam Rush has been fantastic.

You've got to remember we're comparing us with Leicester. What was it Cloughie said about them? It's hardly a footballing city is it. We belong up there.

I think this a very good and fair question from Rattea.

I actually said yesterday at work, if Derby went up this season, given how hard we have made it for ourselves, we would be in a better position as Leicester were last season.

What I mean is, Leicester ran away with it, so they didnt strenghten toooo much thinking what they had was enough, but have proved they probably needed to spend some cash.

If Derby manage promotion this season we have proven that Grant, Forsyth, Christie, Hendrick, Ward, Mascarell amongst others arent cut out for it.

Soooo...Rattea asks a fair question, who, out of our current squad would you replace and who with.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... football isn't about individual players. It's about the team and it's system. How many of Burnley's players would you honestly take? For me; Shackell, Trippier, Vokes as cover for Martin and possibly Ings if we could shoehorn him out wide. They barely strengthened in the summer, mostly increasing squad depth. The starting eleven that beat City today only had 1 player that was there last season.

However, they stuck to the system that they used last season and now find themselves just one point off safety. I think that with everyone fit we're better than Burnley. Our controlling passing/possession football appears more suited to the slower tempo of the Premier League as well.

Say all you like about Keogh and Buxton and the defence but Burnley's defence has Michael Duff and Michael Keane (the very same Keane that couldn't get into our side) battling for their right-centre-half position.

Our struggles this season are down to us being found
