Whether KP is a k**b or not is a matter of opinion. What is fact is that he was told to ditch IPL, told to get runs consistently in County Championship matches - both of which he did. He was not promised a place in the squad, but was promised that a line was to be drawn under old grievances and sores. It would appear that that line has been rubbed out, and old wounds have started festering again in Strauss's mind before, during and after his appointment as Bossman.

So, what are going to get? Almost certainly more of the same old same old. If you went to a (or the right) Public School, or Daddy played for England/a respectable County, y'er in; if you didn't or he didn't, or y'er Black, y'er out.

That is why I have drawn up an alternative England XI on another thread.

Was there on Thurs. Awesome experience. My first time at Lords. Saw England at 30-4, thought i'd see the black caps bat. The Stokes and Root partnership was a joy to watch. When the six's go in to the crowd the roar is amazing. The thing that struck me is the noise of people talking. I was in the Grand Stand at it gets quite overpowering. Mind you, most people seem to be either bevvying and eating the whole day. Highly recommended. Having said that, the day cost me about 200 quid
