That's him pal….think my mates about 67 does he fall in with thes you posted earlier
Crogsworth: Ian Rufus, who went on to be the first Head of News at Radio Hallam after starting out at the Rotherham Advertiser, was in the year above/before me, along with the others & Paul Wickson, Millers' sometime photographer.
Just for the record, I didn't attend RGS. Yes, I guess so Brin, PW was born in 1949.
CTMiller: Hmm, I could confirm the link through Jane Asher and outline how we got there but that would spoil the fun. I want to know exactly how Rotherham,Filey and the Beatles are linked by her.
CasperFrank64 and others have made valiant efforts to link holidays in Filey with Rotherham but rather staggered on the link to the Beatles.
BTW by Beatles, I mean the Fab Four, including Ringo and not Pete Best.
catweazle: That's a bit of history I didn't know, and a great link, but it's not the answer I'm searching for.
The link is actually quite simple....
The story goes that Paul McCartneys first stage appearance, with his brother, was at Butlins in Filey. Said Macca was romantically linked with Jane Asher and you can buy her cakes from Poundland in Parkgate
Like Croglin I can get a Beatles/Filey connection, Paul at Butlins:
"At the age of thirteen, while at Butlin's holiday camp in Filey, Yorkshire, Mike was dragged on stage by Paul to duet 'Bye Bye Love' and had stage fright."

But I can't get the Asher/Rotherham one.
I've been a bit sly in pushing towards the Jane Asher link - it is one connection between Filey, Rotherham & the beatles, and McCartney having been at Butlins in Filey is another link, but if you carry on directly in that direction you'll find yourself struggling, just as Crogman did in trying to produce another link between Rotherham & Jane Asher.
Still, a touch of humour always helps when you're struggling, Croggers - I didn't know Jane's cakes were available in Poundland - they cost quite a bit when you order them from her shop/website.
You can all blame CTMiller for jumping in with Jane Asher, a clue that took some time to establish last time.
Still, I'm enjoying reading the answers and note some have already taken to searching the internet for clues, always a sign of desperation I think.
I'll have to start giving some clues I guess but not quite yet - the answer really is very straight forward, though not many of you will have the precise details in your knowledge ba
CTMiller, only just forgiven you for side tracking us re Jane Asher.
Spent half an hour thinking Juke Box Jury, Jane Asher, onto a young Macca at
Filey then a detour to Rotherham, all to no avail.
May have to rethink for a more straight forward answer and wait for ST to give us
another clue.
This quiz may run a little longer than the "Stones" one.
