Sad situation really.

Albeit controversial he did at least say something that has raised interest. Unlike the ever increasing hour after hour of 'stating the obvious' punditry that currently prevails on all sports channels.
Not the first one to think I was a Sue!!!
Will stick my man. The guy was a footballing gent at DCFC, and that my lasting memory. He doesnt strike me as a racist, but probably made an error of judgement in his comments. Still a legend for me no matter
Stand Up For Eranio!
Have to say, I too thought you were a 'Sue' until recently. Totally agree that the man 'was a footballing gent' and that, for me, is what makes it all so sad. Not the sort of person you expect to utter such crass and ignorant comments. I guess, and I might be clutching at straws here, it is possible to express racist opinions - in an uninformed and patronising way - without being overtly and maliciously racist. Hope so anyway, at the risk of further racial stereotyping, what he said hardly makes him Mussolini, or even Di Canio, but it is genuinely and enormously disappointing.Originally Posted by su4eranio

Or am I being racist saying that. Oh god it's a minefield this.
Have to be so careful what you say or write nowadays.
Someone somewhere will always be offended.
Not condoning what he said at all tho. For the record.
i am of an age when what would now be classed as derogatory comments about asians and black people was common place. in those days it was just accepted and i never really thought about it as being racist. For example i have used the terminology "Play the white man" but it never ocurred to me at the time it could be deemed racist. i have a friend who is aged 98 and he still uses phrases that are not now deemed PC, but he is not a racist and he fought in the war with folk from all areas of the Commonwealth.
Different age and different values.
Maybe Eranio is right , in what he says , what's the world coming to when you can't express an opinion , when you have to think about how others will take , well said Stefano and give the Swiss TV a good old 2 finger salute![]()

, what next white power ???????????? ?? , now that would have been interesting !!!
Not sure it's much to do with being PC, OTR. Personally I despise any form of racism but I've also got little time for political correctness, which just seems to me to be a 'stick', for those who can't think things through properly themselves, to 'beat' others, whose opinions may be outdated or ill informed, with. Think yamyam is right, it can be a bit of a 'minefield' but at the end of the day it's simply about the difference between right and wrong. IMO what Eranio said was wrong on so many levels, inaccurate, offensive and displaying a lack of awareness and level of prejudice which genuinely amazed me. Not as bad as Ram41268 though, who seeing as he doesn't think you ever have to 'think about how others will take' it, won't mind me saying that he comes across like a Neanderthal wum of the first order.
I ain't bothered with a bit of calling , won't find me crying , in fact he should give em a nazi salute instead of two fingers![]()
, now shove that in your pipe
