a fixed term contract should still have termination clauses, if the club sign players and don't cover their backs then it is their fault not the players. Simple clauses around behaviour covering social media would have to be supported by the pfa as the media would rip them a new bottom hole if they tried to say players can do what they want. Before I get told I don't know what I am on about I have 72 staff at the moment 20 on fixed term contracts, I also draft and write contracts as part of my job. The reason it doesnt happen is fear no other reason

Players won't sign contracts with termination clauses in them, especially not when they get coveted for weeks and are a clubs marquee signing as in the case of Halford. I don't think it's simply a case of not covering our backs, but offering them a contract that they'll sign.

    re: Halford

Don't think most fans would give him a chance they've already made their minds up, I actually would if he apologised as I don't hold grudges when folk learn, not sure he would though. He comes across as highly unprofessional, a babyish mentality who cries when he doesn't get his own way like a lot our fans that comment on social media for that last part funnily enough. He'll not get back in the side and he'll stay till his contracts up is my guess. This comes back to all that I've said on the club not doing the proper research on players and yet again it's cost us big as we could of had a quality player in for his wages.

It's not what he was supposed to have said that bothers me it's what he did or did not do on the pitch when played, as for being better than Facey not on his previous outings at right back.

    re: Halford

If he is that good (he thinks he is) how come no other club have come in for him? Being greedy? Bad attitude ?

SE broke his promise according to Halford but why did he not impress Redfearn when he came here then?
Clearly it's down to Halford to either shut up and show what he thinks he has or carry on being a spoilt brat.

Two options, his he fit, play him at right back. What's point of paying him to sit on his arse. He must have been a decent player not so long ago. If he's got any pride he'll want to prove he can still play at this level. Rotherham fans will soon forget his start to this season if he produces it on the pitch.
2nd option, let him find a club then same as Maguire ect... by mutual agreement release from his contract.

    re: Halford

As regards proper research all the club had to do was tell a member of staff to go out and buy a paperback copy of Roy Keanes autobiography and read what he thinks about Halford, when he managed him at Sunderland I know Keane's not everyone's cup of tea but reading those couple of paragraphs we wouldn't have touched him with a bargepole

    re: Halford

From what I could gather from his previous comments, he doesn't want to play in defence (unless I have misunderstood what he was on about)
Plus - is he any better than the players who DO want to play?

Additional - O/T for attention of Brassgnat and Rolymiller

For me if he can do a job play him.

If he performs on the pitch that's all that counts and as previously said the fans will soon forget if he plays well
