    Halford

What I don't understand is how this marquee signing has gone so horribly wrong. If he stays, how is that good for either party? We have a big dent in our wage bill that is wasted, and Halford would effectively be firing a torpedo at his own career as who would want a player - however talented - that has so little pride that they allow themselves to be perceived as someone who throws a strop and then appears to have no qualms about stealing a wage for nothing? I assume he doesn't even play in the reserves or train with us?

I'm at a loss to understand what has gone on that has led us to this somewhat absurd and pointless 'stand off' that is self defeating on both sides?

I doubt we can afford to pay him off, and I doubt he can afford, or wants to, accept a less than his full contract to be paid up if we cancel it. He's entitled to it all and he's not forced to get a new team to pay him the same wage (I imagine he'd have gone by now if anyone was prepared to pay him that).

His career has taken a **** already. He went to Birmingham and barely played, they didn't want him so we got him back. If he can't get into the side of one of the worst teams in the Championship, then League One beckons. Careers plummet so rapidly. Look at Maguire, from Mid-table championship regular (porkers) to League two - via us - in half a season.

If you were on a two year fixed term contract, would you let your Employer terminate it 18 months early without paying you up the full salary if you didn't have any offers of employment elsewhere? I doubt it. His career is already ruined at Championship level. He's 31, he's got bills to pay and his career has what 4 years left?

I'm almost certain Halford is only on a 1 year contract. Players we signed in the summer only Mattock & Thorpe are on 2 year deals, Newell on a 3 year contract.

Halford WAS a dam good player in his time. In my opinion Mr Evans was trying to plug a hole in the midfield/forward set up. It failed, but Mr Evans was too vain to realize/admit he had got it wrong. When you look and see how many contracts have been cancelled by mutual agreements it makes one wonder what Mr Evans plan was. But, we have moved on so can we look forward to an upward and onward period in our history.

Unless he was lying on twitter when he said he had 18 months left, then he's got 18 months left on his contract. If he only had 6 months left, we'd have probably cancelled it.

It's time Halford apologised for whatever he did to Eric Black. It's time to get him back in the squad. We can't get rid of him, Black has gone. Let's move on. Get rid of the top-knot, work hard and get back in the team. He has the ability to be better than what we've got in the first team at the moment. Surely he's better than Facey.

Well, it would make sense for both parties to get this player back so that he can get fit, put himself in the 'shop window' and move on
