    Yes I experienced the 'stretford end surge' as an '8st wet thru' youngster trapped against the supposed 'safety' of a steel barrier. I truly expected to leave the match on a stretcher, either dead, or with at least crushed rib cage. Luckily I managed to fight my way across to a side railing and cling on for the remainder of the game. A crammed Osmaston has had its moments for sure.     Comparing safe standing with life as it used to be on the terraces and you're welcome to it is ridiculous. I take it you'll never go on a cruise ship because it might hit an iceberg and there won't be enough life boats!

    Probably not if I'm honest. The Costa Concordia incident was only 4 years ago and considered to be a modern cruise ship. I would consider that to be fairly recent and by all accounts, a harrowing experience for passengers & crew.
