It would be unfair to restrict an organisation from maximising its income stream because its competitors were unable to do so.
Aberdeen, for example, have an average attendance of around 50% of their stadium capacity. Their stadium capacity is around 10 percent of their city's population. They are the only team in the city (or so we are told... repeatedly...)
Both Celtic AND rangers have around 10% of their city's population as a stadium capacity, with the teams having around 95% and 98% of their stadium's capacity filled respectively (on average...)
Aberdeen's ticket prices are just above £20 a time. Another 8 or 9 thousand people a fortnight throughout the season would get them another 3½ million a year.
The above might be a bit rambly, but the bottom line is that it is not Celtic's fault that people don't want to go and see their team play every other week. I am sure a team like Aberdeen could do a lot with an extra few million, but the fact that their 'supporters' do not want to pay to see them should not stop a team like Celtic from making a few bob.

No matter how close attendances may have been, celtic and the huns have always had a significantly larger potential than the likes of Aberdeen. Fair play to celtic for embracing that and moving forward financially but it's noticable how quickly many celtic fans have gone from the 'left wing, caring, support the underdog' type of ethos to the more 'establishment, greed is good, tough **** thats your problem, thatcherite' type ethos through that.
The role reversal in Glasgow is quite amusing, huns now completely paranoid thinking the state, the media, the rest of Scottish football are pyoor out to get them
I'm not saying that Celtic are wrong for doing this - I suspect most if not all others who'd a chance to do the same would. I'm just opining that it's probably not the best thing for Scottish fitba as a whole in the long run. I've no doubt the extra revenue will be a boon to Celtic if it comes off.
Given that we're a football mad nation it's a bit of a surprise that others havent' done it as well. I'm sure the huns have plenty of travelling support that could generate funds for Sevco through a hotel and of course Ashley couldn't get his mitts on that revenue. They'd surely find as much to show in a museum too, and in time could build up a superstore too (at the moment it would only line Ashley's pockets).
Hearts are doing the new stand so bit at a time but they're certainly heading in the right direction under Anne Budge. New stadium for the Dons and hopefully increased crowds too.
Hopefully there won't be some club dwarfing all others
A few choice morsels from the spewin' huns:
There is plenty of land available around The stadium we should make a similar offer to GCC for that. They would need to sell to us for same price and in a few years we could do something similar. We have some amount of fans coming from NI, Fife etc that would stay in hotel. 200 rooms at £100 each is £200k per home game. (This cnt cannae even count ffs...)
Opus Dei is well and truly established within the politics of Glasgow and is working away fine within GCC to the benefit of the bheasts from the east. No disrespect to Bears local to Ibrox but you have let yourselves down the place is an absolute midden, it hasn't moved on in twenty years, no investment in it at all compared to over the city. Opus Dei ffs...
Something we should have done years ago. Sadly we're a million miles off doing something similar at the moment, and even if we do it will just be another thing to the growing list that we have done second to them. It gets more depressing each day when you think how far behind them we are.
Yet we seem to consume the every thought of so many of them Nae luck ya trampy *******s!
The irony of a 6-pager on a purely Celtic topic is obviously lost on this monkey...
And one who makes sense... (although he is a trialist, so may be a timposter...)
"While we were drinking, they were thinking".
It all comes down to the fact that we as a club, and a support, are heart lazy and have stood back and watched all this happen and done nothing. Meanwhile, they have worked themselves into positions of power in football and in politics over a lengthy period of time and are now reaping the benefits of it.
It is truly frightening to see, but they are light years ahead of us on and off the park and I for one see nothing that is going to change that any time soon.
Our attitude and laziness infuriates me at times. We laugh at them for their love us love us attitude and their stunts they pull to increase PR, but it works for them whilst we just sit on our arses and 'follow follow'.
