I think that's the reason Rowett isn't spending daft money on players, he'll need that cash to buy quality players if we go up! One thing I will guarantee is if we do go up Keogh will still be captain and that would be fine by me.

Certs - Carson, Keogh, Davis, Wisdom

Maybes - Ledley, Huddleston, Thorne, Vydra

In other words, we'd need significant incomings, loan or purchase, and hope we can do it on team spirit / luck / grit.

It is worth noting though, that the game is a bit different, and so we could be surprised by someone who comes alive more.

Aren't we getting a bit ahead of ourselves here?

We would be quick to slag off the Red Dogs if they were in our position and were having the same discussion.

While we're at it, just supposing that we did get promoted and did end up in the champions league the following season, would any one of our players be good enough?

Sarcastic maybe, but there's a number of Fester players who I would never have thought would played champions league football.

I honestly wouldn’t begrudge any team who chose to look at future possibilities but your final point is a very fair and valid one.

Ahem you are getting ahead of yourselves...

For this to work you would need your owners to actually agree to spend lots of cash.
I foresee the opposite. He'll take the bulk give some to make the backbone strong enough for a return to Tier 2. If you stay up then whatever earned can be used for season 2.
If you fall, he wants the team to pop back up.
Still earning money with another promotion.

Really not ‘getting ahead of ourselves/myself’ Rom. Well aware of how hard the rest of the season will be and our proven capacity to self destruct, but half the fun of being a football supporter is pontificating about what might be.
Where’s the harm in asking...’just supposing we make it...what will we need?’

As regards Butterfield, Bryson and Martin, mista...if they’re surplus to requirement now I can’t see us needing them back in the future whichever division we’re in.

Because we don't want Butterfeet back anyway and Bryson is, like Martin, the wong shape for the holes GR has in his formation?
