Other than the fact that they haven’t sacked the manager so far, what do you base any of this on?

A mixture of the few comments they have made in public, the observations I've heard from a few people around them, and a bit of my own opinion and gut feeling about the type of characters they are. I could be wrong of course, but they just seem to have a completely different, calmer, less emotional and more analytical mindset compared with Hardy or Trew (or indeed many other football chairmen).

So he has had a good Christmas. The game New Years Day away at Maidenhead will be the test. Should be expecting nothing less than 3pts

The aim for this season should be playoffs. Anything less is unacceptable. I would sack Ardley if it looked apparent that he wouldn't be able to deliver a top 7 finish. Thankfully that now looks a possibility. Long may this run continue.

I would agree with you, Ardley will be here for the season. Whether that's a good thing only time will tell.

Remember ncfcog, I'm not stating Notts will get in the playoffs (owners expectation) I'm just hoping this 'good' Christmas period will mean he gets the whole season to see where we end up.

If as you say win 2 of the next 10, or 3 of next 15, maybe they will pull the trigger. But let's not worry about that now, these 9 points from the 9 available make up for some of those disappointing draws and defeats we had recently.

Nobody predicted maximum points from these 3 games, so we should all be delighted along with the manager seemingly getting the tactics, team selections and substitutions right.

I think as others have said that he is here for the season regardless. It’s obvious anyone can beat anyone on their day in this league so to start stringing a few results together is just what the doctor ordered.

Regarding targets for the rest of the season we should still be aiming for top spot. Not saying it’s there for the taking but we should now be setting our targets high. If it’s playoffs then we need to do our damned best to finish second or third.

Nailed it, that's my view exactly and hopefully the owners too. That's why talk of sacking earlier this month when still in touch with playoffs was premature. Thankfully the last three games shows just how close we still were and even with another poor run, no doubt to come, we will still be in touch should that happen.

When we played them down the Lane, they were everything I thought Non League was about.....boring and dull.

That's a good mix Jackal , their official statement and some of the stuff said at the press conference/fans forum gave me the same impression. It's very refreshing. As Stall said today post match, "too much turbulence at Notts for past 20 years..... Managerial changes left, right and centre"

An ex pro, who knows football, has seen as many minutes of action this season as any fan, loves Notts says exactly how some of us fans feel.

If you've not listened to his comments from 8:30 mark onwards you should, they are balanced and IMO superb.
