Yet management is totally the reason you get a zero rating.

I see the The Ship Inn at Greasbrough has scaffolding up so looks like someone else is going to try to make a go of it.

The couple who ran it before the last lot opened Taste in Swinton but have sold up and are now opening another restaurant in Maltby.

Seem to do decent food but don't stick around long.

It’s a fairly meaningless system really

Even for high risk businesses there’s a 6 month gap between inspections, a lot can change in that time

Plus it isn’t compulsory to display the rating sticker so you can have a zero rating and most customers would never know.

Are businesses that get zero or low ratings required to close or show improvement before ghey are allowed to continue. Maybe great fire can google it.

Compulsory in Wales and Northern Ireland but not England.

No mention of Scotland, different system I suppose.

I would be pretty suspicious of any eatery that did not display it's rating. If you want to know the rating of a restaurant you intend to visit all you need to do is go to the Food Agency website at ratings.food.gov.uk. and put in the name and location -simples

    There you go:

    Businesses with poor ratings
Businesses which are given low ratings must make urgent or major improvements to hygiene standards. The local authority food safety officer has several enforcement options available as well as giving advice and guidance to make sure these improvements are made.

The food safety officer will also tell the business how quickly these improvements must be made and this will depend on the type of issue that needs to be addressed.

If the officer finds that a business’s hygiene standards are very poor and there is an imminent risk to public health, when food may be unsafe to eat, the officer must act to ensure consumers are protected. This could result in stopping part of the business or closing it down completely until it is safe to recommence.

All that would tell you though is what it was like on the day of the inspection, your visit to the establishment could be weeks maybe months later.

Like driving but only looking through the rear view mirror

No different to any other business though Grist where past performance can't necessarily be taken as an indicator of current or future performance. Just look at Liverpool yesterday.
